I agree, Adam - indeed both images in the first half look better uncropped. That boulder looks like a huge lump of gold.

It is lovely to see you back in the forest, your magical land of trees, streams and waterfalls. I prefer the uncropped image in this case. Also, yes there is an image there at 10.59, even though there is lots of sky visible, which is probably what put you off. That cathedral of trees over the river is lovely. The pano at 14.02 is gorgeous. Thanks for a great video.

I like both, but if I must choose, then the full frame is my favorite. Thank you for taking us on your journeys. It's always enjoyable watching your videos.

I agree with you, I like the full frame version of the waterfall photo. Personally I thought both waterfall photos were nice. It would be a close second for the very first image that you took. Great video as usual. A very beautiful setting!

Also the trees behind at 11:00 look like a cathedral. Gorgeous.

Adam, I agree with you on the second composition and prefer the uncropped full frame image. The foreground does add interest and pop to the image. Thanks for your work! Cheers!

My favorite landscape photography. Waterfalls. I like to use the drone to get perspectives that would otherwise be unsafe or just plain silly to try to get. Beautiful choice where you were in the video. Nice to see Brian in your videos also, landscape can be a bit lonely sometimes and nice to share. Love the 3rd photo!! Great video, Adam! Cheers mate!

I liked the full frame version of the second shot. I agree with you on the light on area in the background. I would not think 400 or 800 would give any appreciable noise even on the larger sensor. I sure hope you had insurance on that gear!!!!

I was glad to see you didn't lose your camera in the drink Adam as a certain associate of yours did just that, ( twice ) ouch! Some people never learn I guess, LOL! I'm quite pleased with the performance of the GH Pro II gearhead by Sunwayfoto, my only complaint is the country of origin...Once again, a shout out to those swingout units hinging off the custom made bumper... I can envision your buddy Mr. Hardcastle tumbling down that slippery stream... in regards the pano... I think I too prefer the full frame... regardless I do like how you toned down that bright water splash on the left... bottom of the pano... but just up a wee bit from the bottom on the full frame... Thank you

Thank you again Adam for a wonderful video, as ever. Regarding your question of preference, I must admit to liking the full frame version due to the lighting as mentioned but also the water passing each side of the boulder draws the eye better to the cascade behind.

That one composition with the shiny rock in the foreground, I'd like to see a vertical comp, cropping out the water on the right side of the image, keeping the entire rock in it

I always look forward to Adam's videos. Being an old school photographer for more than forty years, Adam has really brought the power of cropping to dramatically change the mood & feeling of an image. Thank You!
@amalieemmynoether9923 жыл бұрын
Great episode Adam. I prefer both 1st and 2nd images uncropped. By cropping the first to a panno, you lose the most interesting part at the bottom of the image (IMO). I love the glow on the rocks in the foreground in the second. Someone further down in the comments said it looked like gold and I have to agree Lovely panno with vibrant colours for the last image too.

13:57 fantastic image and crop. Natural. No photo stacking, no manipulation and a good pure shot. Real and natural. So hard to get a great image on digital vs film. Back in day we did it on one frame. Great work. I am so tired of manipulated images. Sky’s put in. 5 year exposures. Color manipulation. I could go on and on. The end result is most of the digital images these days look like Elvis paintings on velvet. Love your work. TY for sharing.

Another great vid Adam and whilst some people would be happy with your first "uninspiring" image I do see your point. To the second image, definitely the uncropped version for me. I love the golden tones of the FG rocks and also the way the water swirls around them at the base of the image. The two maple leaves leading the eye through the image, can't go wrong really!

Those big boulders in the foreground had Goldish patches, which was a good choice with the full frame image. When you got to the last location and you turned away from the falls to the trees I couldn't help but think not often I would use a fish eye but pulling those tall slender trees over the river may have given a tunnel look if the light would behave. But thank once again for your thoughts and how to get something from not as much as you hoped. Cheers.

Those last two images are just beautiful Adam. I definitely prefer the full frame version over the pano crop on the second one. The pano cuts off the large boulder at the bottom and seems a bit abrupt and does not allow the image to "breathe". Very enjoyable and relaxing vlog this week.
@thebinpustey64973 жыл бұрын
I tend to shoot wider if I’m unsure. I often see things in post that affect how I crop…even if it ends up being an unusual cropped size. I really like that big boulder in the 2nd shot! If you haven’t been, Cold Creek over off Cherry Creek Rd is fantastic to photograph too!

I liked both the pano version and the full fame version but I could also see a third interesting perspective by cropping just below the lower maple leaf. Doing so gives the image a totally different mood or feeling and completely changes how the eye travels around the image... the crop tool is soooo powerful...
@ToddHiggins3 жыл бұрын
I much prefer the full frame version. The light and color on the boulder are fantastic. I think the pano feels "cut off" at the bottom. Beautiful shot!

@QuietLightPhoto3 жыл бұрын

@malcolmbenn10513 жыл бұрын
Both crops are good but between the two I'd lean towards the full frame. That said there is another option and that is the full frame cropped up to just below that large rock, it eliminates the dead portion of the image and makes everything else a bit larger.
