Oh my gosh Benjamin I can't believe it's been 24 years since you've been gone. I'm 69 now, I was 24 when I saw you guys live. You would've been 77. I'm so sorry you're gone. I lost my son to Cancer 4 years ago. No one should die before their time. I'll never forget you. I know how much you must have suffered because I took care of my son until he died right in front of me. I think he would've loved the Cars. He always loved bands that were different just like me. I pray that there is a place in Heaven for you and of course my son. I want all the good ones to be there. 😔💔💙💙❤️❤️😇😇🙏🙏🙏💕💕

That damn Cancer took my son when he was 32. I was devastated. Poor Benjamin. My husband can't stand it when I talk about Benjamin but that's before we even met. I have so much love and compassion for people , especially when they die too young. But I will never stop listening to the Cars ! NEVER ! 😌💔❤️💙💙😇😇🎸🎶

It is clear from the many comments, and I agree, the Cars evoke some of the strongest feelings of nostalgia for that era when compared to other bands of the period. I think in addition to the music being so good, it was due to the real shift in rock sound and cultural change that they ushered in.

Both Benjiman and Ric did fine on the vocals, but thru the years there have been so many people say that they sound so much alike..... I could tell who was singing when their second album came out because I got familiar with the first one... Ben was WAAAAAAAAY better a singer than Ric could have ever been.... Rics voice nearly always had a hint of strain from a rough bowel movement or something... He was always on key and in tune, but there was an absolute difference... and every member of that band was an excellent musician... I was always a guitar Rock kinda guy, but The Cars worked their way in somehow and man did the ladies get out on the dance floor for their music....

What's so cool about the Cars is that it's about really great songs performed well. Not about choreography and celebrity and antics and spandex and spectacle. Each member is like a back up to the others. They almost seem like one of those 50s or 60s bands on Ed Sullivan in demeanor and yet they are a timeless kick ass rock band. No grandstanding. The singer sings then backs up to let the other instrumentals have prominence and then cooly steps back up to continue singing. Just a cool band with cool songs. I use the word cool a lot in this comment, but that's because the Cars are so damn cool.

One of those wonderful, haunting songs that instantly teleports me back to the 70's, and happier times. Heard in a Cars interview one of the band members mentioned Ben disliked this song. They never gave a reason. Did they ever play it live? Sad to think one of the most haunting melodies by The Cars doesn't rank higher in their repertoire. It does have a very heavy 70's disco beat, perhaps that's why.
