Wickipedia tells me the bassist was Pim's brother. No wonder the ensemble was so tight. Very hot band. I'll have to research them more. Definitely the most sophisticated European jazz I've heard. And Rita Reys was the wife of their original drummer, Wessel Ilcken. These folks were family and it shows.

I feel as dummy as teebeesea, wondering why such a marvelous singer has passed under my faulty radar. Tho' Reys was 89, still taken aback by her passing after seeing a video made not too long ago, in which she looked and sounded and looked youthful as a yearling. Posted title is not quite correct. A grammar-obsessed teacher of mine, nicknamed the Steamroller, mixed classroom hell with advice like: "Listen, my future dropouts, 'already' is all right, but 'alright' is not okay."
