if you are having an issue getting the up draft going up the chimney, open a window or door for a few minutes while you start the fire. the cold air will push the warm air up the chimney starting the up draft.

Hi Tre, love what you've done with your cabin, you should be proud of your accomplishments. Reminds me of trips with my grandparents to our family's off grid cabin. What I remember grandpa doing was emptying the wood stove before heading home. We would place birch bark and kindling in the stove for next time. A shot of lighter fluid, a match, and instant fire. Cracking a window or leaving the door ajar helps the draft initially. No messing around with newspaper. Please keep the videos coming... God bless you and River dog 🐕

TRE, stumbled on your site looking up 'cabin porch' or something similar to that. I had been looking at a 14 x 28 Amish metal siding shed from the Shawano, WI area, with no porch, in order to max interior footage, with the idea of me adding the porch on later on the 40 we have in the UP. I found so much of all sorts of stuff in common here and some not; really makes it interesting. I went to school in southern Minnesota and for fun on the weekends explored river valleys all the way from Mankato to Wahpeton for 1860s history finding more than a few old farmsteads with the coolest trash sites to root around in. You have good stories and tell them well. I will binge some more.

Whenever I leave my cabin, I clean out the ashes, put my ignition source and kindling in the stove, and that way all I’ve gotta do is strike a match. A preloaded stove is a happy stove. 😂

Take some screw in hooks or eye bolts and lengths of small cables, or chains with some turn buckles under your log bed! Criss crossing them from all 4 post making a X under the frame! Use the turn buckles to tighten them as needed for adjustments. This should tighten up your frame for you! They will need to go a little below your the Joist hangers to work & leaving enough room for your totes to fit under the bed! We always put a pan of water on the stove to throw some humidity back into the room as it heated keeping the air from being to dry inside! Greg Michigan 😎🤙

In the winter we always wonder how much work it will take to clear out the driveway. This past snow storm we had 12 inches of snow, to our surprise someone had cleared out the first 6 ft of the driveway, after the snowplows came down the road. That wet snow wasn't fun to clear. I like the lights, will have to check them out the next time we go to Costco. I think they would be great for our shed and some of our trails

Those solar lights are great. Hey Terry check out those little metal fans that sit on the stove and run on hot air. They send the heat into the room - the heated air from the stove goes to ceiling. On facebook today I saw a project for your trampoline. Put one edge against the ground and the other against the cabin or one of the other out buildings. Then hang flower pots, place a bird bath at the bottom etc.
