Kelly - Travis , What Carburettors do you have in your Roadster ? I have a Stromberg in my Australian HOLDEN . Stromberg are very Strong , reliable Carburettors , they used them in some Aircraft Engines WW 11 . You need an Australian " DRI AS A BONE " coat for wet drives ❤ ROBBIE - AUSTRALIA 😊

I would agree with the distributor cap, especially if the car runs poorly when it is raining or the humidity is high.

Go figure....you remove fenders and with no top you head to McDonalds for lunch and it rains. While I think I understand the direction you are going here, I do hope you reconsider not having fenders on a daily driver. It is not practical and there are reasons cars come with fenders. Open engine is an extension of of that same thought. With running issues being evident during this wet weather ride, it is more likely ignition than fuel. Again, this should be a learning episode showing how exposing the systems are going to effect a daily drivers reliability. Be realistic...step back and look at all the things that can go wrong without the weather protection of fenders. Tires are going to throw rooster tails as you drive on wet and flooded streets. How much fun will it be in the coup with water splashing your windshield or the windows of passing cars? I get the near same effect in my Hummer with large tires and water. The motor should be covered moisture in distributor, cracked or loose wire connections and yes you will suck water into the carbs. An open wheel car is a sunny weekend car, not a reliable daily driver. The flathead looks cool but how many local garages will have a mechanic qualified to perform service if you are road tripping and break down ? You guys are having fun and should follow your own dreams but sometimes as in a daily driver, you need to think of others also riding along. If it becomes a hobby car then throw away fenders, forget shielding your power train, only drive on sunny days and stay happy. I watch for the entertainment of seeing a young lady work her way through the project, mistakes and all. I am not here to rain on your parade just to help you avoid common mistakes I have seen over the years. Stay safe.
