What I love about the show is that even though Dennis (and Frank) are supposed to be the "smart" ones of the group there are many episodes where they are genuinely stupid and it's still believable because it still fits their character flaws. And although Mac and Charlie are the dumb ones there's also episodes where they're the competent ones while still being believable. The writing is brilliant
