After season 1 FX was pushing the gang to add an actor to the show that people knew. Danny Devito's adult children had watched the show and loved it so he watched the first season, also loved it and contacted them about joining the show and the rest is history!

That totally makes sense. The humor is soooo Danny DeVito too. Especially if you've watched even 1 of his movies. It's just sooo perfect. I'm sure it was a dream come true for the Gang too

Danny was scheduled for a limited number of episodes but became a full-cast member after a season or two. I think his daughter was working on the show and suggested it to him.
