First of all, thanks for watching the drumset cam! So as for the sample pad, it would overheat after being in the sun for too long. So during rehearsals when the sun was out, I would tuck it under some shade so it didn’t fry. For full runs (like in the video) I wouldn’t even hook it up because I didn’t have time to. The samples triggered were very quiet booms, risers, and wind chime samples

The percussion writing this last season for dci in general was really good! So many amazing head cams

Fun drumset book! 7:45 @Adam Tan if the drumset stuff is too busy on top of battery parts, it tends to sound muddy up front. Hence the more sparse moments you noticed.

Thanks for diving into the DCI world for this episode. @AdamTanPercussion - I'd like to suggest a future Studio episode that features a discussion on marking up a marimba solo. What do you mark up? What is your marking system? Maybe show us how your markups actually affect how you play/rehearse certain sections. I guess a masterclass on that stage of learning a marimba solo.

Now that you’ve seen most of the percussion cams, Itd also be cool if you watched the full shows with the multi cams (they’re on KZbin) without worrying about not being able to see the percussion. I think it’s in the multi cams where the full effect of the shows come through.

You need to watch the bluecoats 2022 center marimba cam. There are so many well written and clean runs. It’s so entertaining to watch

Adam, all age corps is always an option. Either a sound sport group, they operate on a pretty international level, not quite a corps in the traditional sense, but a great opportunity. Or you could simply move your entire life to the north eastern United States and march dca, which is weekends only, all age drum corps, for slightly cheaper

No disrespect to Koa Fujimoto, he's awesome! But the video/sound quality and parts of Grayton Hodge's marimba cam are better imo. He's using a really good mic and cam and also has the best writing in the parts since he's the center. He also doesn't use the bass drum and the cam just has a lot more marimba. Definitely recommend that one over this one, but this one's good too! Hope to see you react to Grayton's cam someday!

they are called trash cymbals and the pad typically sounds like a drumset but you can make it so it can sound like basically anything
