my main issue right now is the badge regression. i had catch and shoot go from midway through gold all the way to bronze in 8 games. for us spotups it’s impossible to keep badges. i’ll put in 3 hours of badge grinding just for it to go back to square 1 in less time than it took to acquire. i liked the idea of having to grind specific things for certain badges, like catch and shoot jumpers for catch and shoot, contested for deadeye, etc. but the regression is just infuriating. i’ve been playing since 2k11 and it’s the worst feature they’ve ever implemented. 90% of the games i’ve played this year have been with 2-3 silver badges and the rest bronze.

you not completely wrong but imo as the game is right now there aren’t too many “elite shooters”. so from my experience so far a lot of people can’t differentiate between an open and contested shot cause the contest system is weird at times , which then leads to them mistiming a LOT of jumpshots. it can all be opinion based too , but going off what i’ve played against and experienced so far i’d say a lot of people are butt at 24 so a good contest ( imo anything 20+ ) is enough to throw damn near anyone off rn 😂

If I’m being honest that 2nd “smothered” was a high percentage shot. He created plenty space off that snatch back. 2k’s contest system is just weirdly inconsistent and it’s annoying. I often take shots where I “think” I created enough space to get a shot off and end up being smothered. And accidentally take a low percentage shot and green it somehow. It’s just weird.

2K have no idea what a contested shot actually is. A 7ft guy taking a two handed jumping layup against someone who is 6ft2 directly under the basket just isn’t contested. Just like a right handed player taking a driving layup right handed when the defender is behind them to the left or a good shooter taking a 3 point with a slow centre 2ft away. I understand for park people why that’s in the game but for 5v5 and park they should have different settings.
