The plaintiff claims he loaned his ex-girlfriend money to move when she was being sexually harassed at her apartment complex. He says she never repaid him, so he’s suing her. The defendant admits the plaintiff gave her money but insists it was a gift. She claims the plaintiff then began harassing her and even broke into her home, so she’s countersuing.

Because we know it isn’t a “real” court. Judge Mathis is just a real judge acting as an arbitrator his rulings are legally binding. It’s the same as a local civil court, his is just televised. That’s why we take it seriously, there’s good information to be learned from some of these court shows
