Those Meatloafs looked so delicious. I didn't put up a tree for Christmas since I lost my Husband a few months ago to Brain Cancer. It was just too hard but we did have lights on the outside of the house that a friend puts up for us. My Husband always liked the lights on the house so I had it done in his honor. We always leave our tree and decorations up until the middle of January. Some friends leave their tree up after they take off the ornaments and turn it into a winter tree. They took large pine cones and "frosted" them with white paint on the edges and while wet they sprinkled on glitter. They also made some snowflakes out of some kind of plastic and glittered them also and got some snowmen ornaments to add on the tree. They have some winter birds around in spots also like cardinals, chickadees and a few others. They leave on their soft white lights. It really looks pretty.

New Years day I take all the Christmas themed ornaments off the tree and turn it into a winter tree that stays up all winter long. It's a snowflake and cardinal theme. The rest of my winter decorations and all the white lights stay up too. It's so nice to have everything cozy and decorated throughout the dark months.

I put away Christmas decor the day after New Year's Day, but I keep the winter decor out until March 1st. Spring decor comes out March 1st, Easter decor comes out the second week of march.

I spent the day taking down all of our Christmas decor. It is always a little sad, but since we are in a new year, it will go by fast, and we will be pulling these wonderful Christmas decorations out once more. Today I went through all of it and got rid of quite a bit, some trashed and a lot going to donation tomorrow. I'm going to have to make those Dorit-Loaves! I think they'll be a big hit here. We have not yet taken down any Christmas decor. We prefer to wait until as close to Christmas as possible before we decorate; it's usually Christmas Eve when we decorate. Then, for us, we start celebrating Christmas on Dec. 25 and it continues well beyond. So, we're still in the Christmas Season at our house. 😊

When I make meatloaf, I sauté the peppers and onion until caramelized before I added it to the meatloaf and it gives it a very good flavor. Another thing I do is I make oval mini meatloafs and wrap bacon around them.
