Anybody else remember when a Static Fire would shake off (min.) 30% of the upper stage’s mass in heat shield tiles? 😂😂 Update: 9:10 - yes, that is exactly what it’s designed for! It’ll be a “shower head” on top of the launch mount and that plate will interface with the launch pad when installed.

The frequent references to the constant wind make me wonder why you haven't added a small wind turbine to your camera setups? I assume there are problems integrating them with the solar panels & batteries. You've mentioned that clouds combined with less winter sun makes power management more challenging.
@NASASpaceflightАй бұрын
Small wind turbines have very short lifespans here... there *too much* wind. They spend most of their time braking. Looked into this originally (as well as issues balancing with solar) - Das

02:46 for which OLM is that deluge plate? The OLM 1 is already finished and I thought they don't need such a stainless steel deluge plate for the OLM 2 because of the flame trench they are digging beneath it? Edit: 09:33 I guess Das answered my question :D - I imagine they are going to spray water from the sides into the middle of the OLM 2?

The problem with using an SPMT in a parade is they guzzle fuel like no tomorrow. One module burns 2 gallons of fuel per mile even if it's carrying a light load
@NASASpaceflight29 күн бұрын
2 gallon per mile is... almost nothing cost wise for a parade? - Das

DOSS… Recommendation… Make a long list of acronyms and abbreviations that you can default load to each description for each video… So if you use an acronym and people don’t know what it is they have a place to quickly go look it up… Let’s face it some of the acronyms used or made up specifically for the happenings of Boca Chica, so they might not be into it for some newbies… That way the flow of your stream of consciousness narrations will not have to be interrupted by long, silent periods, contemplating whether you should use an acronym, or say the word out loud… This is what we’ve come to 😊🤣🤣

@NASASpaceflight the orange border on the sides connects up nicely with the red progress bar at the bottom and looks like a continuation of the border. It looks good, too good and has tricked me a few times. I have watched a few updates twice lol. Which I don't mind tbh. Just my thoughts is all.

If there's anything on the bottom, it's your progress bar. We specifically removed the border from the bottom and top so the progress bar wouldn't blend into the border 👍 - Das

I believe both the High pressure modular nitrogen tanks and the sandwiched metal plates are part of the same but totally different flame diverter system.....from what little is available I think spacex plans on applying some cooling water to the top plate to protect it and its workings from the issues now plaguing the OLM....just not quite the same as before.....I doubt they will be spraying water onto the side of the super heavy booster...remember those plates are more or less going to be at the same relative height as the top of the OLM....not underneath the rapters but around the sides of the super heavy .....it will be interesting to see how spacex manages their spray patterns on this top plate.... the nitrogen tanks provide the necessary "push" to get the water out against 400 bar of pressure.....otherwise the metal cooling plates would actually explode if the water is allowed to turn to steam........the water pressure has to be higher than the raptor exhaust pressure....or else...
@keithcook3624Ай бұрын

I wonder if they at some point enclose the towers with concrete plates all the way up at some point. That should stabilize the tower a little bit more when connected to the tower structure, because of the additional mass, when ships and boosters are landing.
