The messaging is very different. Dems are more hopeful in their rhetoric. While Trump is negative and fear based... "It's the end of our country if they win" and "the migrants will do terrible things" is basically his campaign. While Harris is more focused on what she plans to do to make America a better place. Trump was much more optimistic about how he was going to make everything awesome in 2016 and that is gone now. Once you've already been president and nothing really changed it's hard to get people that excited again so he focuses on why the other side is bad instead.

I'm in deep red Utah, and we have more Harris Walz or just anti-Trump signs in my neighborhood than we have Trump signs. There are a lot of people who just have signs saying "Hate won't make America great". I also sent out messages to my entire extended family asking them not to vote for Trump, and I got replies back from almost everyone in my 100+ extended family ensuring me that they would not be voting for Trump, and that was very unexpected because most of my family are hardcore republicans.

The reality is that Trump as the candidate is an existential threat to democracy. So we have been dealing with it for three election cycles. If he loses this time though, he's done. And if it's a historic landslide that gives Harris the Presidency, House and Senate, then it just flat out tells the GOP that MAGA, Christian Theocracy, and alt right extremism is just a failure in the US. It's why although swing states, according to the rules of the game, are important for winning, the popular vote is just as important from a narrative point of view this election. Imagine if Harris takes the popular vote by 15 million? If she gets a mandate from 90+ million Americans? What is that telling the GOP at every level? This can and needs to be the election that destroys MAGA.

Just a small fact check. Since 2008 (as far as I went back) 6-10% of registered voters vote across party lines, in fairly equal numbers. So for like 2016, Republicans voting Clinton and Dems voting Trump. What I think will happen is that the number will halve and double. Less than 5% of Dems voting Trump and more than 10% of Republicans voting Harris. If it happens at 4% and 11% it works out to 3-4 _million_ votes that Biden didn't have. That's 60-80 thousand votes in every state, including swing states. And that doesn't even get into what happens with independents and shock demographics like older white women. It's gonna be a landslide at least on the popular vote and likely in Electoral College as well.

Watching Kyle talk about the poll where 45% of MAGA thinks, "Don't accept a loss." That is disturbingly close to a dating guy saying, "I don't accept 'no' as an answer." You are doing the right thing. I know it sucks that Harris hasn't spoken more strongly about Gaza. But here's the reality. She was one of the first politicians to call for a cease fire and to speak on the suffering of Palestinians. (Well before she became the candidate.) As VP she has almost no power and has to follow along with what her boss says. She's been willing to at least meet with the community and unaffiliated leaders. And once she wins this thing pressure, huge pressure, can be applied. Walz has also been more open to discussing the situation. My gut is that Harris will be far more pro-Palestinian/Gaza than Biden. That staying quiet, staying in the grey, has been a campaign strategy and that the campaign doesn't represent what she may do when she has power. And absolutely for certain she will be better for Gazans than the GOP. Many of whom have literally called for Gaza to be turned into a parking lot. Once she takes power, I really hope and believe that the left will swing into action. It will be time to call in favours. We got her in and now she owes us action. She won't be able to personally end the conflict but she will be able to stop the flow of weapons and apply incredible pressure on the Israeli government. Thank you. And you aren't alone.

I have to say that it was the disgusting tone of the Trump MSG rally that pushed me to finally decide to vote for Kamala as a stronger vote AGAINST him. I sincerely hope so. I voted early about a week ago in my very nearby suburb of New York City. I have missed one vote of all elections since 1992. It was a local election. I have never seen more people voting early ever. Mostly women. I got a sense of urgency to vote against Trump. I also drove around my neighborhood to look at halloween decorations and I've never seen as many signs for anyone as I did for Harris/Walz. I know I'm in one of the most Democratic/liberal areas, but it made me hopeful that people are ready everywhere to stop the MAGA movement.
