Make sure you have a good ground from the body to the engine... typically a ground strap from the back of a cylinder head to the firewall. Otherwise, it might be getting a partial ground through the exhaust (if no rubber insulators on hangers).

I have a 91 foxbody, 5.0 efi. I dunno the setup that you have, but I had a lot of issues with the car dying, and not cranking. I dug, I fought, I ended up being tired, forgetting the hood pins that the previous owner put in, hood flew up 😢. then push starting it by myself because the battery was dead after it died, and messing the door up. 🤦 So I parked it. Then I dug more, but eventually I found that the ignition switch harness was melted in half. I've recently been watching your videos and you have a lot of great information for me as I am getting back into my fox after years. But this is just something you can let your audience know. From what I've heard this is a common problem as well for foxes at least.

Afrs went from 15-16 breaking up and running terrible to 12.5-12.7 and smooth. Idles at 13.5-14. Runs fine cruising as well. But I chased my tail for a while and it was the jets. HAHAHA you have the same issue that I had! I am running the terminator X stealth on my 66 mustang and have been running if for 2 years with absolutely no issues once I sorted out the 12v switch issue. I had several issues with my terminator X when what should have been switch 12v wasn't a good switch 12v source. the car would start, run and do everything it would but the AFR would be all over the place. The 12v source you tapped into is NOT the ideal place to get 12v source power from (that's what I learned). I get it though, in all my years, I got 12v from that prong on the switch for everything else that needed switch (electric fan). I switched out 3 different solenoids too. The issue was that the switch wasn't constant 12v when you turn the key to start vs on. In my case the Terminator X would lose power when I went from key On to Start, and causing the terminator X to run absolutely retarded (a mind of its own doing exactly what you said it did to you in the last few mins of your video). Not sure why it did this, but what solved it was that I tapped into the 12v source under the dash (I think it was a black and Green or a Pink wire Its one of the two) but you HAVE to make sure it has 12v source power in BOTH On and Start. My advice to you is 1) rewire that switch power to a standalone fuse/relay block that when the switch is powered, it powers everything that needs switch power from one single source. I have a picture of the one I made that I will send you. 2) use the terminator X to the fullest and get your electric fan wired to. 3) get an in-tank fuel pump from Tanks Inc and call it a day. 4) buy the terminator X stealth and have a blast. My car has a wilder cam than yours (Mother Thumpr) and the terminator X stealth manages it better than anything I have every had (Atomic MSD and FuelTech).

that EFI pump is having an easy time. you should run 12 or 10 gauge wire to the pump, your regulator is what creates the resistance in the fuel line to build up pressure. your pump will flow more fuel at a lower pressure. so a 340L pump rated for 40psi will flow more volume at 8PSI so you have a little more head room to make power on an NA Carb than EFI or Boosted.

Mine is currently broken or I would have used it. Based off of the carb leaking and fuel in the intake I’m fairly certain that was the issue 🤞
@AJsSpeedShop2 ай бұрын
If you are using the Holley Terminator X to control the distributor, (TFI), then start there. Put a “ready to run” distributor in it that does not use an ignition box or ECU to run it. Your misfire is certainly ignition. AFR during a misfire can show lean because it’s looking for residual o2 in a burnt mixture, but during a misfire you are not combusting properly, so it may not have/show residual o2. I get the fact you are fuel fouling plugs and they are wet etc… and a fouled plug will certainly cause a misfire but….. something in the ignition system is causing the misfire/plug fouling in the first place. I’d be willing to bet that the Terminator X controlling the distributor is your problem.

Was the plugs shiny black or flat black? shiny is oil, flat is fuel fouled. Generally I’ve experienced if they’re flat black they will clean up with the right tune up, if they’re shiny though they will not and get worst it seems. The heads I swapped too suggested a7 ngk, I’ve got a6 projected tip in it now and it seems better, but I’m even thinking of going to a 5, projected tip. I’m na not spraying though.

Dude I fought my engine so much after swapping to a carb and heads. It wouldn’t stop smoking and fouling plugs. Had to reseal the rocker studs three times, I used motor craft ta29 silicone the last time and buddy it’s sealed now. Now just trying to get the carb tuned up. I under carbed it with a650 and I’m having to take jet out of it. It’s finally getting there. I had a bad cap and button that was only like a year old or something. Black corrosion crap flaked of the terminals. Swapped it over and it started running better with another cap I had. It really needs a new one.

I think the regulators are tested and set at the factory or at least "closely adjusted" by looking at the screw. They are a carb regulator that is set for a general PSI setting for a carb. Fuel volume won't matter as long as there is not a restriction. I think the wiring and the Terminator X have a gremlin like you think. Looks good and thanks for the honesty!

Possible fuel evaporating inside the bowl?... Just like if you take a clear milk jug, rinse and wash it out with hot tap water out of the hot feed of ya house.. You shake it up with the hot water in it, then our it out and then placing the cap on it, and watch what happens.. Water condenses back when cooled and plastic will suck in, that is the "FILLING/BUBBLING EFFECT" you saw when sitting in the bowl sight glasses... The metal is tougher thus it's not "COLLAPSING" the bowls but i bet it's the same effect..... Just a "THOUGHT"...

You mentioned the Terminator X screen went blank for a second and it miss fired. Sounds like you have a RFI issue. Had that issue myself on my Sniper. As soon as I did that my problem was solved. Appreciate the great content 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Two thoughts watching this one. Try putting a multimeter on the lead right after the run circuit as it comes from the ignition key cylinder. Then mess with it a bit. If the voltage fluctuates even a little,, that could be an issue as the car runs. If yours is OEM it could be on it's way out. Spark scatter. How many degrees can you rotate the crank while the distributor is motionless?
