It's Fall Y'all! - Empire State Trail - Rome to Albany

Thanks for these great videos! 5:12 Appreciate the shout-out! Our Visitor Center is open from May 1st to mid-October with an exhibit. We have programs and events in all seasons. Grounds of the site are open sunrise to sunset everyday, so be sure to stop along your way! Witness the remains of the Schoharie Creek Aqueduct as well as a couple enlarged canal era locks. Our towpath trail reconnects to the EST about 2.5 miles from the Visitor Center and is ridable by most bikes (maybe not narrow tires/slicks). The nearly 45 miles the EST travels across Montgomery County is fully paved and enjoyable for riders of every experience level! 4:58 standing dry above the Schoharie Creek on the old Rt 5S bridge with the NYS Thruway in the background.

Our last days on the Erie Canal Trail were awesome as we rode into fall. Has anyone else ridden the Mohawk-Hudson Bike Hike Trail this fall? Or where do you like biking in the autumn?

I'm seeing stars... :) Great videos! Btw, Utica was a confusing place in 2017. Looking forward to riding again 2022. In 2017 I stopped at Waterford visitor center then rode back west on the trail. Btw, the Erie Canal visitor centers allow tent camping...some free. Waterford was a refundable $10 deposit in 2017 for key to bathroom/shower. I think there are 3 or 4 visitor centers. Little Falls has a marina park can tent camp and use the building for shower, restroom, laundry (few $), relax area. Was $10-15 in 2017. So worth it. Good views of canal...wide water view.

Riding a Kona Rove with 30mm tires. Rich was riding a Kona Rove LTD with 47mm (slowed him down for me:).

Hi. Nice videos. You mention a section where you diverge from the Erie trail to the Empire trail. Is there one you prefer over the other for someone doing the Buffalo to Albany ride for the first ( and only) time? Thx.

They differ between Clyde and Port Byron. I felt like the Empire State Trail route through there was fine. If you're going to stop in Seneca Falls, I'd just follow the more southern Erie Canalway Route. Neither is wonderful but there aren't a lot of options there.

I tried to share a RidewithGPS link but youtube removes it. Showed entering Rome to Utica to Little Falls to clarify. Same route the official map shows. Lots of road changed to trail since 2017. But still some on road until more trail is finished, just not as much as before. I can send RidewithGPS link to you if want.
