Being from Arizona we don’t have vats of boiled peanuts along the side of the road. So I once tried the ones in the can from Walmart. They were not good.

First time I saw boiled peanuts was on vacation driving in NC, place had spray painted sign “boiled peanuts” and place was kind of a decrepit almost-a-shack, there was a giant iron cauldron, didn’t stop because I couldn’t imagine what boiled peanuts were like and it didn’t look they would be safe to eat. So are they boiled in salted water, are the peanuts mushy? Do they taste like regular peanuts? I live in SW Ohio and need to know! Gorgeous scenery!
