There's even more to consider. First, that's not actually true about the people there. Many, sure, but far from all. And second, economic underdevelopment plays a big role in shaping people's outlooks with uneducated opinions and sustained trauma literally alters the shape of your brain. This begs the question of who's responsible for that underdevelopment and that trauma.

Here is the thing. You need to treat their views on gay people the same way you have your views on religion. You may not agree with the concept of God and the religious teachings. You may not even want those views imposed on you. However, you wouldn't mistreat or ridicule those people who believe in God and their religious practices. You would however, support their right to not be bombed in a genocide. Now flip the script. There are a bunch of people who are gay. They are stuck on some land and are about to be victims of a genocide. Muslims don't agree with the concept of practising homosexuality and don't want it imposed on them, the same way you may not agree with the concept of God and don't want it imposed on you. However, we are not going to stand by and allow this genocide to take place where gay people are killed for no reason. Get it?

Out of pure curiousity because this has always baffled me: why do so many Jews view Israel as the ONLY solution to antisemitism and the solution to persecution in the world, the concept just doesn't make sense to me from a conceptual point of view, Im hoping maybe someone raised in such talks might explain it to me
@sethzwicker36315 ай бұрын
@@noname-hf9ty Well, I'm hardly qualified to speak for all Jews in the US but I'll tell you what I can. As with most issues, it's complicated. In one instance: The Holocaust didn't happen that long ago. Many of us have family members (not so much anymore obviously) that were there and can tell you what life was like beforehand and then...horrow show. Israel was intended as a haven and that viewpoint propogated. I went to a Jewish dayschool as a kid. Most of it was standard general studies. The end of the day would be Judaica. But, it wasn't just Judaica, Jewish history.etc. There was a great deal of pro-Zionist views pushed on us as children. All the teachers were from Israel and it was one point ov view. This was in the 80's so it wasn't like there was the internet for me to read the other side of the story. So, it's part fear based trauma, part propaganda coming from Israel itself, and partly because even in the US we still hear some scary stuff about what "we" are accused of and how there are those that still want to hurt us. Hopefully that helps a bit.
@noname-hf9ty5 ай бұрын
@@sethzwicker3631 it's fascinating to me how far blatant propaganda can go in becoming zeitgeist, I remember Andrew Schulz talking on his podcast about the Jewish pov of October 7th and how alot of Jews don't really comprehend antisemitism (part because antisemitism statistics are exaggerated) and it's only really a word they'd hear, but October 7th and the reactions to it almost confirmed to alot of Jews that yes, Antisemitism is real and scary. It still baffles my mind how Zionism was then the solution to such persecution though, returning "home" to a land that was then majority Muslim and big part Christian (two groups that don't take particularly kindly to Jews historically) and planting a nation right in the middle of said land, just to me it's always seemed like such a bizarre solution. Although in fairness the alternative solutions Zionism proposed from taking over Madagascar to Uganda were equally weird

The idea that Biden is anywhere near as bad as Trump is the most self-destructive, id**tic point of view someone can have with how extreme the stakes are this election. Trump wants to completely destroy our country from within, he's allied with dictators, he has stated he wants to "take the leash off of Netanyahu" and said he'd let Netanyahu "Finish the job", and stop sending aid to Gaza and Ukraine. That's just his foreign policy...domestically he wants to fill his cabinet with extreme evangelical neo-fascists who want to completely erase LGBTQ+ people from public life, violently deport immigrants, destroy our relationship with America/South America. Destroy our relationship with allies abroad, including NATO. He will put a union buster back in charge of the NLRB, he will put a climate denier in charge of the EPA. All while we have rising global tensions, the guy who talked about injecting lysol, who can't carry a sentence without having a mini-stroke, will have the nuclear briefcase, and we all saw how well he did with nuclear and other top secrets during his term. He has an army of pre-screen sycophants via project2025 ready to take every white house cabinet position. He has an army of propagandist grifters all willing to lie, lie and lie some more for the sake of profiteering off the chaos he brings and throwing more and more fuel on the unrest and division in this country. Do we REALLY want to let that guy back in power, all just to spite Biden? When Trump himself has indicated over and over he would be worse for US and Gaza alike? Really? EXPLAIN how that makes sense. Kyle, Hasan, Humanist Report, TYT, all these networks and people who spend every single day on their airwaves, placating their audience of ravenous anti-Bidenists by confirming their biases and doing absolutely nothing to bring them toward the side of logic and rationality...will ALL be fine if Trump wins. In fact, they will PROFIT from it, the content will be AMAZING for them. But the people who will suffer will be the people who fell for their lies and decided to stay home instead of go out and do their civic duty. Those channels and more, are all insulated from the consequences of their rhetoric and promotion of irrationality, in fact not only insulated...but they benefit from it. So I ask all of you to actually think for yourselves and do what is best for the people AROUND YOU, in your communities, the ones the left is supposed to care about. Vote Biden, if for no other reason than for the sake of harm reduction. Netanyahu needs to be the focus of our ire, and he likely enjoys how much everyone is scapegoating Biden. Netanyahu likely wants another Trump term, based on what Trump has said.

Many people don't understand that there is a difference between Judaism and Zionism. Judaism is a time-honored religion that represents precious humanistic values and has a great cultural heritage. Jews are an enrichment for all societies in which they live. Zionism, on the other hand, is a political ethno-nationalist ideology with some fascist excesses, which have become more and more open since the Netanyahu government. Many millions of people of Jewish descent worldwide do not identify with Zionism. Many Jews support pro-Palestinian demonstrations around the world because they do not want the Netanyahu government to commit crimes against Palestinian civilians in their name. However, this is usually not mentioned in the mainstream press in Germany. It is important that we all treat each other peacefully and respectfully. In every religion/culture there are people who practice their religion with conscientiousness and love for humanity and there are those who, driven by their irrepressible egoism, only use their religion as a cover. Now is the time to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and apartheid policies. I see no other option than to break off diplomatic and economic relations with this state until democratic reforms along the lines of South Africa have taken place.

I don't think he's bringing people into the center or moving them more left and right I think he's freeing us of all the b******* that we have internalized from a media that's definitely owned by some group that I guess I can't really put a name on, as well as ideologies that have been cultivated throughout the decade in order to persuade the American people to put their stamp of approval on the most gruesome acts of the last 100 years, and even before that. I used to be woke so I didn't speak out against Dave but I didn't watch his specials until a couple weeks ago, the night before I buried my parents. No, punching down is not funny. But I didn't view it that way. I saw it as a seasoned comedian pulling out a chair to a group of marginalized people. I know a lot of people thought it was mean and anti-trans. I've watched Dave Chappelle for a long time. He was never my favorite but I've never seen him punch down on anyone. I thought he was being inclusive. Apparently, so did the family members of the trans woman he was talking about. He opened up 'trans' as a topic for consideration, comedy and conversation and some people weren't ready for it. As a matter of fact, I think the backlash itself did more damage in the immediate aftermath to the trans community then the special itself. He didn't advocate hate or violence. Didn't offer an opinion on bathroom usage or sports teams or say anything about hormones or flags or any hot button issues that get people riled up. How do you approach something so delicate and sensitive with finesse and try your best to do it in a way that doesn't make people feel ostracized? Sounds like you think he failed. I think the failure was on some of the audience.

@@nimrodery TERF is such a gaslighty bullshit term. Anyone who is totally fine with trans people, respects pronouns, treats them as they would any other person, etc, but objects to those specifically born with XY chromosomes taking part in girls/women's sports, would by definition be labeled a TERF. The only thing that's "radical" is believing that biological males do not have a natural physical advantage over females in a physical competition. Believing that children should be allowed to make the decision to mutilate their genitals before their prefrontal cortexes are fully developed is "radical" to me. That doesn't mean I'm going to treat trans people differently than anyone else. I'm just not going to pretend that a trans woman is the same thing as a biological female in every context, because they're not. And I shouldn't get lit up and be labeled an oppressor or discriminator for it either. So that TERF term is bullshit to me
@Shalanaya5 ай бұрын
@@elbeetlebeasto The abuser is not the one to claim whether they are harming others, it is those harmed that show us how they should be treated. Inclusion empwoers all. Trans athletes having an advantage only benefits a female sport through its diversification. They have to be in a female sport at all costs, if we break that, we are on the way towards tyranny. Sport is not a level playing field, if we took out all the physiologically stronger and taller women from gender group, those smaller ones would also benefit, but that is not what sport is about. The point is that based on multiple evidences we already know that trans women do not have the male advantage over females, because they are no longer within the male range, in fact the recent study found that they are even at disadvantage in many ways, go figure. That is because male and female are not a binary monolith, sex has always been a diversity. What trans people provide is a diversification, which from a holistic perspective only benefits all women! This is not what those in power want you tho think, that's why they are exploiting fears and ignorance within the public. And taking the medicine away from children that can save their life under an excuse that they are not mature enough is advocating for the murder of those children, they dont need to be mature for pulling their teeth or many other medicines that alter their body forver in early age. And PFC has been dismissed by neuroscientists as a popculture myth because it dels with social inhibitions that prevent from being our true self, it has nothing to do with maturity. All that you show is a text book example of narcissism that dismisss abuse they are causing. Remember sociopaths or psychopaths dont know theyre causing harm either, you just want power over others, thats what TERFs reprtesent, and their ideology has been recently officially declared by the Lemkin Institute as genocidal in intention, and they do have links to actual neo-nazis. You just choose ignorance!
@Shalanaya5 ай бұрын
@@elbeetlebeasto And TERFs do not respect pronouns, they purposefully misgender and dehumanize people. Most of these people are severe narcissists, which is reflected by the study that was done over many years that showed a cconnection between transphobia and antagonistic narcissism and misogyny.

@@elbeetlebeasto Trans children are not operated on, all they receive is puberty blockers. Intersex children are operated on and no one cares if they are mature enough, go figure. When the bills banning health care for trans youth started coming up a few years ago, proponents swore that these were only about protecting children, and that adults were of course free to do what they wanted with their bodies. After the end of Roe v. Wade, they have dropped this pretense. More than 200 bills are calling to make being transgender illegal, and to put anyone who fails to flee or detransition in prison, or maybe camps if there are too many for the existing system to handle. This is already the solution Donald Trump is proposing for other “undesirables.” It’s not coming from fringe organizations: This is the mainstream of the GOP. When Trump promises to be a dictator on day one, it’s so that he can implement draconian policies and laws like these. Average Americans might think, “Surely we would never go this far? This sounds positively Naziesque, and it is, and we’re better than that, right?” Wrong. Senate Bill 197 defines the existence of transgender people as “obscene” and bans them from being within 2,500 feet of any school. Senate Bill 194 would not only ban all transition-related care for anyone over the age of 21, but would also require that all providers (including therapists of all types) attempt to “cure” them. It would define being transgender as a “sexual deviation,” like pedophilia, exhibitionism, masochism, sadomasochism, or fetishism. Senate Bill 195 in West Virginia would declare that any material related to being transgender is obscene, which would have far-reaching implications for the internet and the First Amendment. Senate Bill 1780 would mandate a $35,000 penalty for accusing anyone of transphobia. It would also exempt people from defamation lawsuits by trans people if their views are based on their “scientific or religious” beliefs. Which is to say, you could call a specific transgender person a child molester without evidence and not be liable to the same civil suit risks you would be if you did the same to a cisgender person. This expands protections on speech for one class of people, while restricting them for the minority they’re attacking
