Kay, some deep lore regarding the Project Yorha. There was an android called Zinna from the Army of Humanity created numerous Yorha Prototypes, No. 2, 4, 9 and 21. The Android No.9 discovered the fact about human's extinction, went nuts and killed everyone within the Lab, he was the one installed the Yorha back door in order to destroyed it when the time comes. Android No.9 is (could be) the overarching antagonist of Automata

Still sadness for Devola and Popola, even at the end. And it’s so messed up how all of the androids have died for nothing throught several thousands of years and repeating the cycle over and over. Everything about "fighting for the rest of humanity surviving in the moon" was a lie from the get-go. Humanity died ages ago. The aliens that invaded earth way after human extinction died ages ago as well, leaving only the machines that they brought to fight the androids for the control of the earth that the androids still tried to protect. Both sides lost their creators and with them, their purpose to exist. Making the whole “war” of the androids with the machines as pointless as their very existence. But due to the nature of their existence, neither side can live without a purpose to fulfill, so the machines fight the androids but don't kill them entirely to keep fighting and the androids created Yorha to have a lie that gives them a reason to keep figthing the machines. The machines comunicate with each other throught their network and at some point got interested in humanity and were trying to replicate humans. They had just succeeded in most other areas, the only aspect they were missing was conflict, because machines have no concept of death or loss, being essentially invincible. That's why Adam (that white haired guy from the first episodes) disconnected himself from such network and essentially committed suicide in his battle with 2B. One of the final human emotions that machines needed to experience was hatred, so he allowed himself to die in order to make his brother (Eve) feel that final emotion. At that point, Eve essentially became a complete human and that's when the logic virus started really spreading. Giving the context of the logic virus that affects the machines and the androids. The "logic virus" is simply them trying to understand humanity. Humans are not logical at all, and machines trying to emulate humanity were struggling enormously to come to terms with the total nonsense that the human brain conjures. Humans "killed countless numbers of their own kind, yet loved in equal measure" . Something that embodies what the androids can actually do but the machines don't because androids do have/developed emotions. Machines are seen saying "I love you. Kill." 2B and 9S's relationship highlights strong parallels to this phrase. As well as a parallel to the human ability to love and hate/resent somebody at the same time (like 9S that loves to 2B despite her killing him thousands of times and 2B loving 9S but not being able to stop herself from killing him due to the nature of her existence as an android meant to kill anyone that discovers the truth). None of this makes sense to a machine, so when the machines, a.k.a the less advanced kind tries to emulate it, they essentially repeat the error message: This cannot continue. Which led to the disagreement about how to keep evolving. Sorry for the ridiculously long comment XD. I tend to write a lot sometimes.
