Honestly, I got the Zephyrus G16 with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. And I disabled the dGPU and can play pubg on Low settings 1080p with medium textures and high antialiazing around 100 fps. The fans do run, but very quiet. I got the 4070 model which came at 2600 euro incl tax. It sure is a lot of money, but I am honestly happy with this laptop especially since the power consumption is very good even while gaming. Also you can do general tasks and you still get around 6 to 7 hours on battery. I also like the large touchpad. If they had an 18" option I would have gone with that.

G16 AMD is better, much cooler and more headroom for noise aka fan curve adjustments on G-Helper (it's 10-20 degrees cooler on the CPU side, for the same game).This is why I kept the version with HX, also in general more comfortable/smoother to use.. Battery is slightly better as well. No issues with throttling because there's none, thus FPS are more stable, too. I would say it's a good portable creator/productivityr+gaming laptop. I would agree on the Intel version that this is not a good gaming laptop because it was boody hot. But the AMD version is pefectly fine, besides working on it, I can play literally all AAA games on ultra. With DLSS&FSR&FG nowadays you have more choice as well. It's also cooler than other thicker gaming laptops I've tried with a 4070. You're getting 99% performance of the 4070 with 105W TGP. If you're never moving the laptop and use it as a desktop replacement, then of course there are other better choices with a 4080/4090 if you look for the highest FPS, e.g. Legion. But honestly, when it comes to a 4070, personally I wouldn't choose a different laptop if discounted and money is there to spend . Perfectly fine for gaming and perfect for movies etc. as well. It's so easy to pick up, it's so thin and light. In my case, it's 50% personal with gaming, 50% work-related. I take it on business trips or when I want to be in a different place in my house, like the living room (I have a good PC already). Perfect for that. I love OLED :D Plus. As everyone says: Use G-Helper. Better UX, minimalistic and less unneeded services running.

got it for the equivalent of 1450$ in europe which is an insane price for europe for this laptop. I guess for this price range it's more of a justifiable acquisition (even if still not the best gaming laptop for the price probably better in all other aspects) and a very good value laptop if this is within the budget of the buyer... sincerely the only issues that would remain is the loud fan noise (that you can tweak putting it in silent mode for most situations even though not ideal) and also the battery feels just a bit average and sincerely i don't know how can you get the advertised times (it's not bad but i think everyone expectations is at least a bit higher on this)

You are a much smarter guy than I am. First things first haha. However, It was really frustrating to hear you constantly saying creator laptop. I hope you were just referencing YOUR LAPTOP and not the G16s as whole. I didn't spend $3,400 USD to get a i9 Ultra, 4090, 32GB Ram Etc... I can run COD on this thing at 200++FPS while docking it to my OLED monitor. I can Play Cod, Listen to music AND run Streamlabs simultaneously without suffering much from the gameplay qualities. I must say this is more of a gaming laptop than a creator laptop. You might think that fans are super annoying to you, but when you get to watch the performance of the notebook boost and the fans are running high, it doesn't really bother everyone. Remember, most will also have noise canceling headphones in while gaming where you wont even hear the fans to be quite honest. I got a TIME SPY Score of 16,890. My brothers GAMING PC with a 4070ti Ryzen 7 7700x and a lot more higher end components got the same score... I wouldn't call his Gaming PC a creator PC. Yes, this laptop is over priced. But it is a super solid gaming laptop!!! :)
@TechGuyBeau3 ай бұрын
It’s a creator laptop 4090 in this laptop runs like shite. I have done extensive testing as mentioned in another thermally and wattage constrained laptop. Compared to a gaming laptop, the 4090 in this will run massively slower. Sure, it can game. But so can a Thinkpad. In the end gaming laptops focus on cooling, and performance. Creator laptops, like this, focus portability, screen, etc. and like this will significantly sacrifice performance and thermals in order to meet the portability needs of a creator. That being said. Creator laptops like this with a 4090 will still outperform a 4060/70 in a gaming laptop just due to raw specs. But in the end, gaming laptop with a 4090 will easily outperform a g16. In the end this is realistically a creator/hybrid laptop. My thinkpad p16 is not remotely a gaming laptop. But it has a 4090 and easily outperforms a g16.
@JoshCravesTech3 ай бұрын
Draxbyy you are correct. It is a gaming/creator hybrid. Essentially a gaming laptop with the design and features of an ultrabook. Beau you need to rethink some of your responses here as they can come off quite negatively. Your Thinkpad’s Time Spy score and sustained performance in games will not match the G16 4090 model. And it’s also thicker/heavier. The G16 4090 can absolutely handle any AAA game you throw at it and run very well with much more gaming-focused features like wattage and fan tuning, Gsync, etc. Lower wattage for sure than a beefier 4090 laptop but still it’s about the equivalent of a full-powered 4080 laptop.
@TechGuyBeau3 ай бұрын
@@JoshCravesTechthe tgp of the asus 2024 4090 is 105 watts to 110 watts. Which is on par with the thinkpad p1 and lower then the p16. The p1 Thinkpad (a workstation) is about the same dimensions as this g16. The p16 is thicker yes. The point is, those two devices are creator/workstation laptops that can game. They also have superior cooling to the g16. The p1 uses a full vapour chamber. The p16 uses an impressively robust vapour chamber. They will both perform as this g16. (He p16 actually will very easily outperform this massively in CPU and a fair bit in gpu). So when do we start calling the p1 and the p16 gaming laptops or gaming hybrids because they can game? A spade is a spade. These are portable creator laptops (minimal cooling, focus on portability, design, and most importantly screen). This isn’t a negative. It’s a positive. These are incredibly capable creator laptops (as I say several times) that can of course do gaming if you want. But with their inadequate cooling does not suggest gaming I apologize that I am not the type to beat around the bush. I pride myself on straightforward analysis and an avoidance of marketing BS. These g14/g16 are creator/processional style laptops with sGPUs. This means they can game. But as I said, Lots of explicitly not gaming laptops will match this (or exceed in some cases) and actual gaming laptops will significantly outperform this g16. It’s a disservice to pretend that these aren’t considerably nerfing performance in favour of “appeal” of the laptop aesthetics

TGP of P1: 105W after dynamic boost TGP of G16 4080/4090: 125W after dynamic boost So G16 has 20 more watts than the P1. It’s actually a 125W TGP GPU on the 4080/4090 models. Time Spy graphics score on P1: 15,584 Time Spy graphics score on G16: 17,800 So more graphics power from G16 Cinebench R23 scores seem to be about 18,000 - 18,5000 on both so very similar on CPU. About 23,500 from the AMD G16. Not to mention the abundance of TGP control, fan curves, dynamic boost control, Gsync being advertised heavily, Armoury Crate preinstalled. @@JoshCravesTechso, what you have said is: The totally non gaming p1 is roughly as performance as this “gaming” laptop in gaming. Assuming both 4090. Kinda sad for the gaming tag What we have also discovered is that the 4060 runs at a mere 80 watts. Kinda sad The cooling insufficient as well Dynamic boost will now allow proper performance in many games as there are only so many watts to share, and inadequate cooling. This is why so many users, yes even in the comments here, are having abysmal lows on their g16. I’m glad we agree that the g16 “gaming laptop” is barely able to keep up with… a thinkpad…. In gaming tasks. And simply cannot compete with proper gaming laptops (or my p16 literally not gaming laptop). In the end, the g16 is a nice slim MacBook competition with windows on it. Which allows for the benefit of being able to do casual gaming. The performance will be drastically lower than a real gaming laptop, but like really any laptop these days even with an iGPU, you can rip games on in your spare time. no one interested in buying this should watch this guide no offense. mans not even propping the back with a cheap 5$ stand you can snag at any electronics store. you will melt your laptop trying to play with it flat anytime.... as it applies to any gaming laptop. Josh Craves Tech shows a simple guide to enable virtually quiet mode on this computer. its all about how you set it up, just like every gaming laptop.

Uh… yes is did lol I even have a full video of this laptop coming comparing back propped, flat, and a cooler Clearly you have an issue with identifying a raised laptop 👀

You want a smaller track pad? Are You nuts? 😂
@beau-urns3 ай бұрын
People who type a lot don’t like large trackpads. They get in the way. Nothing worse than resting your hands with a trackpad when you’re trying to type rather than the chassis Then again ASUS is really trying to turn these things into MacBook
