This is when you realize that Brooke Shields has always been much more cerebral, smart, intelligent and wise than you could have ever possibly imagined she was. Probably also her most underrated, unknown, least celebrated/famous interview from that era. It's like a little gem about the person and makes all her fans proud. I am. I think her mom kept Brooke so under her control that it hindered her by over-protecting Brooke in a sense that Brooke never quite blossomed in her own experiences & growth in acting and she could've been a true thespian & a much more serious actor. I always thought Teri hindered her.

Do you think Teri was a Narcissistic mother? I sometimes wonder..

She has very rich vocabulary (also difficult and new to me). That made her speech so expressive and interesting, woow.

One cannot help a person who drinks alcohol. It is impossible. The health insurances need to sharpen their rules and laws.

I can see why Michael & her were close.. both had childhoods with Complex trauma with a difficult parent.. both were sensitive & intelligent children who put others before themselves and had to take on adult responsibilities young. I think they understood each other very well & could pour their hearts out to each other.

She is so different to the characters she plays. In films she's usually a hard ass, but in real life she's real soft and sweet.

The problem her mum had was this: any man she would have a relationship would have flashed on brooke, because she had even more than everything a man can dream of, maturity, kindness, intelligence and stunning beauty. So her mum was condemned to be single and alone. She abused alcohol to forget her misery.

She was on euphoria before there ever was a Euphoria. Hollywood took advantage of her broken home.

To those who want no complaints from them when they get older is to get then when they are young. At 11 months old you are probably looking at the youngest sweatshop worker in history. She never stood a chance.

Before Kris Jenner and Britney’s parents…there was Terri Shields exploiting her poor daughter. I can’t believe the compromising and selfish situations Brooke’s mother put her through.

if her mother wasn't an angry drunk but a happy one , then what's the problem? she says herself she was taken care of, no abuse, so what's the problem? sounds like fun to me..

Drunk parenting in and of itself constitutes abuse because the parent is in an altered state of mind and so parent-child communication breaks down. A child needs an alert and present parent, not one who is vacant and under the influence of a stupefying substance. The child's development is adversely affected by exposure to an intoxicated parent.
