@@user-vk7zw4pl3d Don’t think anyone is judging people on either side of this discussion; however, it’s appropriate to respect settings and plot lines in a story, especially one that everyone knows so well. It’s like a Chinese actor taking the leading role of Braveheart, for instance. It’s simply not appropriate to plot and setting. The lead would need to look like a Scottish highlander in the years the story takes place. In HTTYD, characters need to look somewhat like Vikings, the ancient Nordic peoples. 1: how to train your dragon can very much be retold in live action and still hold the spark and wonder that made the animated one so great 2: every live action remake we’ve seen as a film as came mainly from Disney who are a soulless shell of a company. Everyone knows this. Dreamworks is leaps and bounds better and not only this but they brought back the original director from all 3 how to train your dragon movies to redirect the live action. If that isn’t promising then idk. People just love to complain.
@GamesUnfold2 ай бұрын
I agree and so far just the teaser trailer alone is amazing and you’re right. How to train your dragon is probably the most realistic of all the movies and it makes sense. The way they made some of the characters look I think is alright. I think Nico Parker does good as Astrid. Do I wish they would’ve given her blonde hair. Yes, but toothless and hiccup are the 2 biggest characters, so I’m ok with it. Regardless I’m grateful that I even get to see one of the best animated trilogy’s turn into a live action. I know I’m gonna love this movie. I thought about it for years how toothless would look realistic. People nowadays like to look at the negatives instead of the positives. Did we need a live action film. Probably not, but it’s an amazing experience to see the original movies so many people love turn into something more real.

I'm 100% sure if Astrid were played by a white chick with blond hear no one would complain about this movie at all. Just relax guys, this is not the little mermaid story over again, Nico Parker is a real actress, not some singer actress wannabe. And if you look closely enough at the photos from the set, she looks pale. The only thing is that she's not blond and I think it's not that big of an issue. So far the only casting problem I had was Ruffnut. The whole point of the twins is that they're supposed to look exactly like each other, even matching their two headed dragon. While the brother's casting looks perfect, the sister is just terrible

It’s not about diversity, it’s about completely disregarding who she was and what made her character work. Completely changing her ethnicity just feels wrong and out of place. i wish they made a remake of the original film with better animation and maybe some new scenes or so, that would be much better than making a live action

Based off the 2 trailers, I think they are on the right track

Im really exited for the movie, Httyd was my childhood. But Im still disappointed on how they made all the blond characters have dark hair and completely violated Gobber's glorious mustache and gave him a non existent beard. Ruffnut and tuffnut don't even look like they could be remotely related 😭😭😭

I haven't seen what Gonber is meant to look like in rhe live action; but if they've jettisoned the moustache of the animation in favour of the beard of the books that's a step in the right direction. It's a shame that all of the steps so far have been purely superficial and the plot elements all seem to follow the animation.

If you watch the trailer with no bias towards it, it actually looks really good

I usually don’t like live action remakes and I love everything httyd games, series, the movies, and books, and I’m glad that they made it look good, it has potential mason Thames is a great role toothless looks good, but if they were putting money into something why not expand like people want like a 4th movie or new cannon series, looks good but so much more potential in a 4th installment or continuation

What movie other than the jungle book live action remake was good? If you aren't gonna use the live action aspect to make a movie that wasn't as dark as it should've been based on its premise much more tense, scary, or brutal, then the mivie is essentially a cash grab and the audience doesn't deserve that bs

DISNEY OWNS DREAMWORKS NOW! That’s why! DREAMWORKS even released their final animation before selling. It’s a short of Scrat from ice age finally getting his acorn in the case that Disney might never let him collect one… now you know. So Puss in Boots last wish.. all Disney.
