So, I have not had a lot of time to work on the car, and the time I did have I really did not feel like I got much done... I had to cut the sills out and try and build something. I got the driver side rear door sill / rocker put in but not much more. There is so much rot and garbage in there. It's disappointing the car was so bad below the doors / floor.... Definitely needed the whole thing re-done... just sucks it is so much more work.
I will try harder to get some more videos out. Thanks for sticking with me through the build...

Use some 1" square tube to replace the floor flange that they fiberglassed, it'll give you a solid base to weld the rectangular tubing to and tie the kick panel to. Keep plucking away and you'll conquer it.

Might I suggest a repop 2nd gen Mustang tank? You cut a hole in the trunk floor, drop it in and the top of the tank becomes the center of the trunk floor.

Uhh. . . I didn't realize you'd already fabbed the trunk floor when I made my previous comment. Sorry.

Keep pushing along you will get there! You are doing an amazing job, especially being your first restomod. You filler neck could come out right there on the step. Just sucks you will have to open your back door to put gas in it. Otherwise you would probably have to move your gas tank. Looking good!

Thank you Yeah I can’t think of anywhere else to put the filler … was also thinking I could go to a junkyard and pull an actual gas tank door off of something, and there would be a little door in that step

So basically you are taking a Yardart car and transforming it into a running driving car. Even for a ratrod that would Not have been good or safe with fiberglass sorta holding everything together 😢. As far as the gas filler I'm sure you will figure it out. You figured out all that other stuff. 😎👍

Got to hand it to you. You are one brave individual to take on that mess. Don't give up.😅 As far as the door sills, I was thinking you could have created those rockers/sills by creating templates to be configured with the same curves and making them either out of flat stock or thin wall tubing and making cuts thru the tubing so that it could be bent to follow your template and then weld up the cuts. That would probably be the easiest way to fab them. Now as far as that front a pillar that the door is mounted to, you could splice in a repair that would extend down to your fabed rocker/ sill. Then add that piece to cover the kick panel. Gas tank. Any way that you could move that tank or find something else that is a little smaller to go in a different location. And run the filler in the stock location ? Keep it up it will get there. Looking killer. Wheels and tires make all the difference when building a car. Make sure you fill the wheel openings properly.

@@jsh3234thanks for the input I can’t really move the tank because the 4 link is under the trunk. I mean I guess I could scrap the whole thing and run a fuel cell …

That stinks, man. Sorry. Reminds me of my surprise bondo fenders on my Cutlass. Whoever did that was the Michaelangelo of body filler.

Could you run the filler hose for gas tank up the B piller and out the roof with a flip up gas cap
@MarekMakes
@MarekMakes 2 ай бұрын
That is a super unique idea I had not considered… and I’ve never seen it … how did you come up with that??!

I just thought that would be the easiest way to get it out of the car. And flip up gas caps are cool

I don't know about the USA but in Australia it is illegal to have the filler neck inside a vehicle.

There are lots of classic British cars with fillers “in the boot” …. Not sure if there are any of those running around “down under” like classic Minis etc.?? Even if I was to ditch the OEM tank and put a fuel cell in the trunk the filler would technically still be “in the car” I think

It would have taken the fools longer to lay the fibreglass than to repair it with metal.
