Muscle cars are known for simple geometrical graphics. I'm glad they incorporated that design cue to bring back that muscle car feeling. However, the rear needs to have fewer angles and encapsulate the tail lights a bit better. Other than that, it looks great!

The front fascia feels like just reverting the change Ford did in the 2018 facelift (more aligning with original S550 design which is good); The tail light is just way too small to show its presence. 100% agree with the comment, love the pre-facelift S550 rear end.

When the leaks started coming out a while back I really disliked it, but after looking at it a lot more it’s really growing on me. But I 100% agree on the rear and interior. Rear looks weak, those taillights should be taller like you said. And I’ve personally liked the idea of digital clusters and more/bigger screens in theory, but it’s rarely done well. Like you said, I wish it was more integrated into the dash, rather than just stuck on top. They should have kept the classic double brow design and built these screens inside that.

It’s a Charger front end with a Camaro rear end. But the most important aspect is they kept it manual!

I'm a 22 year old who loves to play videogames. I hate the new trend to slap a tv screen on to the dashboard without any thought whatsoever. Definitly prefer the S550 interior. This and the rear end aside the new Mustang looks pretty good.

It’s starting to grow on me. I like the grill of the EcoBoost and the Dark Horse version more than the GT. The GT just has a fake flat look to it while the EcoBoost has a stoic Polestar look. I think when the GT has the shiny grill it looks bad but I’ve seen renders of it with a matte finish that looks nicer. I like the update done to the rear on his other video.

My favourite looking modern Mustang is the 2014 year. I really thought that one was great. I agree with you as far as feeling that the Challenger is really the last muscle car. The Mustang & Camaro really don't feel like like that to me anymore. I actually don't mind the look of the tail lights on this new version compared to the previous one, but I'm not the biggest fan of the styling overall for these last two styles. Just my opinion, but I still feel that the Challenger has been the best looking car out of the three (Chevy, Dodge, Ford)

Agree! the 2015-2017 is the best looking modern one. With the facelift headlights they were trying to imply the squared-off, down-turning outer edge of previous generations. it did not work. looked dumb. At least they fixed that in the new one🤷‍♂

As a 21 year old, the interior screens are whatever. It should have the new Apple CarPlay where it takes up also the gauge cluster so it should be interesting. What I don’t like is how the ac controls are on the screen 💀 it irks my soul

Look at the digital dial designs- you can tell just how the production team/designers hated to incorporate ANY retro and classic cues into the digital UI, at all.

Now the dashboard just lacks any kind of characteristics really. This is what happens when designers literally go too crazy for de-branding their own products, you're better off had you not just tried to rid of the good things that make a Mustang a Mustang at all. They love insulting their own herritage.

i like digital screens and dont mind it but this design is horrible. at bare minimum they should have at least had the speedo tablet embedded into dash and preferably both as one seemless screen. i still prefer the analog gauges for speedo and tach. they tried so hard at making it a minimalistic design which in itself isnt a bad thing but the way they did it just looks horrible completely destroying the character of the interior almost nothing pops. the tablets look like they were superglued to the dash being able to see the top half of them from the side, looks like a cheap mockup of what could be and that steering wheel is kinda meh. other than that though whomever designed the body did a damn good job absolutely badass. you would think with such a minimalistic design to dash and lack of dials and knobs they could could make use of this space rather than make it look empty, its so bad anything would look good in there at this point. would be nice to see a new 2022 subaru wrx inspired dash here.

I just can’t get over the fact that they smoothen the side caracter lines, that’s my favorite line in my S550. And I’m with you about the ipad screen it’s just lazy. Car looks good but just these two things may make me don’t buy it. I’ll have to wait and see it in person.

Everything changes fortunatly it ain't ugly. It actually looks rather nice inside and outside. But I still prefer my low mile 2015 Mustang GT Premium. It has every option available to the premium. Plus it's bolt on mods. Make it much quicker than a stock 2018 - 23 GT, nd it is paid for. No car note for me during this recession!

The first thing I said I’ve saw the new interior was the gauge cluster screen should’ve been recessed in a housing like the current one. I love the centre one and the rest of the interior but having a big flat piece of glass in front of the steering wheel doesn’t make it feel muscle car like. I also predict aftermarket light manufacturers will make a replacement tail light that will have the bars running straight down like they do on the 2015 and because of the V they’ll be a very obvious protruding bar.

I might be old fashioned but to me the best looking modern mustang is the late 2000's model before the first restyling, although I really like the planted rear design of the generation that's gonna get replaced by this.

The hockey stick down the side came back in 94 and remained thru 14 ! Not just 10-14 !! My 06 GT has it…with a side scoop !! I was also hoping they would bring it back !!

I like that Ford made this generation Mustang more "edgy." I like everything about it, except that the back doesn't look near as good without the spoiler. But, I'd definitely get the GT with the spoiler so that doesn't concern me. The interior is not retro anymore, but it's really impressive with the huge digital screens. Wow!

For me, the old version was beautiful and harmonious but I agree that it was not a muscle car anymore, and this one is a step in the good direction for sure. However I think they where lazy everywhere in the process, I 100% backup your review on the side and the rear, would also have put a little duck tail like the 1970 version. On the front they should have put the line a bit higher to make the bonnet almost flat. A bit more pronounced wheel arch and I would have kept the design of the last headlight, just straitened. And just under them and the grill, another strait line. I would love to put on the paper what I said but I'm not that good alas. 😅

Everywhere I look, I see Mazda's Kodo design language. The new Ferrari also has the hollowed cheeks. The Mustang has the same, and it eschews any straight lines. It's a great design language. If Mazda released their Vision Coupe as a 4-500hp RWD, I think it would fit right in with these sporty vehicles.

Design philosophy is not a compartmentalized distinction anymore. Every car out there has design elements other competing manufacturer already does it, just labeling it different. And not every manufacturer actually pitch around design philosophy names, most just hire designer & make a sketch thats it. Also Its something to do with new gen budding designers that are being supervised by people who are not aware of such nuances...& the new designers just does stuff having learnt during their time in the institution. Inevitably adding mix mash of things into a single car design...like japanese kodo, or scandinavian simplicity but since its Italian so making sure it has the brand badge. Its why cars today probably starting to look odd if not outright ugly.

About a month ago, I saw a base and a GT in camouflage and my first though was that they looked like mustangs with the exception of the rear fenders that looked like they were ripped off a Camaro. I personally like the rear end facia design and that front end is gorgeous.

I AM A FORD GUY FROM THE 60'S, MY FIRST MUSTANG WAS A 66 FORD MUSTANG COUPE IN HIGH SCHOOL WITH A 289 V8 AND C4 AUTO TRANS THAT I FIXED UP TO LOOK LIKE A 66 SHELBY GT350 COUPE VERSION! MY FAVORITE MUSTANG WAS THE 69/70 SHELBY GT500 AND IF I HAD THE MONEY TO DO IT, I WOULD BUILD MY VERSION OF A SHELBY GT500 USING THE 69 FASTRACK/SPORTSROOF BODY WITH THE 2020/23 SHELBY GT500 DRIVETRAIN!...MATCHING THE 69 SHELBY GT500 BODY TO THE 2023 SHELBY GT500 DRIVETRAIN INCLUDING THE INTERIOR!...I AM JUST SAYING!...GOD BLESS AMERICA! 😇

Completely agree with you regarding todays muscle vs sports cars. I own a 2015 Challenger RT and same year Mustang GT and the differences are extraordinary. Mustang is much more powerful but weighs less. The Challenger is more comfy with loads of interior space. I feel like I’m in a sports car when driving the Stang but there’s no mistaking the Challenger for a big ‘ol muscle car.

I diassagree either your analysis; 1. Tail lights look great, arch rear fender bezt part of entire design. 2. The front end of last 2 generations looks wimpy, like a mutant large mouth fish. Bring back round headlights 3. The new large LCD interior screen looks cheap, bolted on, and l guaranty it will look as dated as a 1980s boxy dashboard.

Ford took away the bladed windows, widen the width, and lift the back bumper. I am loving it dude. I can't wait to drive it. It also appears to be "technology overkill." Is it legal to have that much technology in a car? For me that is totally awesome.

I do agree with the large I pads in the interior. I think it’s easy and can see why one would think it’s easy to slap one of those in, instead of actually designing the interior around and through…it’s to much like a Tesla to think, of giant tablet on the dash.

You seem to forget that the Mustang was never meant to be a Muscle car, It was a PonyCar!!! More sporty and less muscle was always the plan for the mustang. Yeah they got caught up in the muscle war in the 60s but it was always meant to be more sporty..

Definitely a step backwards from the last one. Side view looking like the awkward Camaro is the biggest screw up in this design, as well as the awkward rare end compared to the previous generation's which was pretty much perfect.

I like it and I get what you're saying re sport car vs muscle car. The Mustang historically is not a muscle car so their styling is appropriate and very good by the way. Older guys may not want technology package, just want the V8 and manual. Thanks, good vid as always 👍

Yeah, not a muscle car, it's a pony. Pony cars all share some of the characteristics compared to each other, aptly the Mustang is the original pony. So Camaros and Challengers will share those features. The rear reminds me of a '68 and the Dark Horse definitely has inspiration from Vaughn Gittin Jr with the RTR grill. I'm getting vibes from different eras across the board.

Somethings were changed just so they would look different but with the limitations of the mostly carry-over platform (which was necessary to save costs as their is no way they could justify an all new one with a declining segment) are obviously not for the better. The front is growing on me but the side body lines look weird and the taillights and trunk cutout are really awkward. I also wish the hood ran all the way to the top off the grill without the separate cut line, but the way it is probably helps avoid hood damage with low speed impacts.

I like the angle of the rear end trunk, but not the fact that it was carried to the 3 bars. Also, the oversized rear wind splitter (Looks cheap) takes the visual importance from the stop lights to the top down. As a mustang fan the 3 bars are representative of the mustang, and are visually weakened by a black piece of plastic. If it were thinner it would have improved the rear end a lot. Overall, I like the rest of its design.

Dodge Charger front end and Camaro side/back. Foxbody interior without functional knobs, buttons and switches. Pricing is probably going to be high maybe markups too? Overall might be a good time to buy used Mustangs after these hit the street.

Thanks for the video, I disagree with your thoughts on the interior and the rear end of the car. In fact I think the rear end is the best part of it. I only like the dark horse front end though... can not wait to see what Shelby does with this car
