Actually the league was more angry about the price point, the league didn't sign off on it and were not happy at a "premium" product being sold at a third of what it should have, which was one of the reasons the license got put up for bidding by the league, as opposed to everyone's favorite untrue story that EA simply bought it out. Sega didn't even put in a bid as they were looking to unload Visual Concepts (which they did to Take 2) since they were bleeding money as a software only company with some expensive flops at the time. 2K5 is the gold standard, but let's stop rewriting history from how unhappy folks are about Madden. I still got all the gaming mags from back then reporting on it if anyone wants to borrow a copy!

@@DSMTheEditor But that's not reality. 2K wanted to make a splash so in 2004 all of their 2K5 games, football, baseball, hockey, and basketball all were sold for $20. I should know, I bought them all and loved them. That was the only year I bought all 4 major sports games. 2K reverted to normal full-price the following year. I've followed this story for 20 years now intimately and I've never once heard what you're suggesting.

I said it before and I will say it again. The fact that they are allowed to do that is on the consumer, not the company. It wouldn't even take a full boycott. If 30% of Madden players did not buy that game for one season, EA would have to change the model to one version of the game every few years, and having people pay for roster updates.

Dawg they have to keep it the same so it is realistic to actual football. If rules change in the nfl, they change in madden. It’s not like other games where they can just add new features plus it’s yearly, what do you expect. They’d be stupid not to release it every year, I suppose they could make one game and continuously update it, but yeah!

Sure, they COULD make it more affordable or allow for updates via DLC but why do that when they could charge us $60/year for a "new" version. This is basically EA made madden games, then they just never stopped making madden games, and eventually acquired the NFL license. So everyone was forced to play only madden, and destroyed any competition so the games eventually became lazy annual games that guarantee money. since the casual sportsball gamer will buy every game no matter what.

It is quite remarkable to publish such a documentary as a success story against the background that EAsports does not develop its games any further due to its sports game monopoly. In my opinion, the success story described has been over since the beginning of the 2010s. Since then, there has been nothing but greed, gambling on children and disinterest in the sports of soccer and American Football.

My guy please go look up what Madden had in the early 2000s and look at Madden today so you can understand. If you still don't understand for whatever reason then there's clearly no point in explaining to you. Yes its just a game but you need to understand that ppl are spending their money on this and this is the ONLY NFL GAME that can be released at the moment so we don't have other options. EA is literally asking for more money but doing less AND removing content just to add it back in. I just realized that they removed the pro bowl when they just added it in a few years ago. This game isn't even progressing and you can't defend it. We should be able to buy houses , cars and customize this stuff by now but we can't. We still can't play as a TE , Olinemen , Dlinemen and a Safety in superstar mode after how long now 3 or 4 years I believe ? We don't even have a pvp 11 v 11 mode in Madden and I don't even play pvp in the game. What's funny is that they continue to do all of this while still asking for more money.

I was there when my oldest cousin got his Sega Genesis and between Madden and Nba Vs series this is ALL they were playing. Funny thing is I see a lot of the same things people complain about in Madden I see consistently in ea college football 25 but we haven't had a college football game in so long people just either look past it or just make a note of it while enjoying the rest of the game why can't you do that with Madden it's not fucken vr realistic no but it can still be fun most of you can't decide whether you want realistic or arcade style gameplay so just stfu and play it

Nice video. Btw, sorry for getting off topic but I just wanted to say this because I’m really holding out hope that the new 40k show doesn’t get cancelled, so I hope someone from Amazon reads this. Many 40k fans and I are super excited for Henry Cavill’s Warhammer Cinematic Universe. I know that there is some friction between some of the involved parties because of the Custodes. However I genuinely believe that if y’all compromise with Henry and the fan base on the lore it will be an amazing project. While there are no female Custodes and y’all don’t want to commit too much screen time to factions that aren’t to your tastes; y’all can make a new faction (happens all the time in 40k / if it’s good GW canonizes it, ex: Retributers from Astartes animation), so if y’all wanted to make a new faction that you believe people would like, go for it. Example idea: a super capable female imperial guard / sister of battle or whatever is so awesome at what they do the Council of Terra decides to capitalize on that talent and super charges her (not far fetched in 40k at all)(idk maybe like some gene-seed from Saint Celestine or something). This project has a wealth of potential for not only profit but also to earn you a lot more loyal fans to your brand. If you made it this far thank you very much for hearing me out.
