the castle walls fell more empty than before, like you entered another realm. Soon, you start to forget your cherished memories. what job you work as, your brother's name, and why you are even here. all you remember is "its-a me! [FILE_ERROR_404]"

As the man explores the princess' castle, he begins to feel like something is wrong. He takes a rest in one of the rooms, and wakes up to quite the sight. The castle that was once populated with small sentient mushrooms is now completely empty, and what seems to be burnt. Dark marks cover the walls, an unsettling fog looming around the moustached "hero". He looks around to see the ceiling has caved in while he was gone, covering the floors with debris. The man leaves through the rotted doors, to see a completely black void surrounding the castle. It's just him, alone at the edge of a universe. He yearns to see sunlight one more time, but the cartridge is unusable now. All the prongs are bent and rusted. It had been 26 years since the owner last played the game, and since then, the Mushroom Kingdom has fallen into a state of no return. He looks around one more time, noticing trees with no leafs, a Toad's corpse and Peach's decaying crown floating in the empty abyss. Mario then accepts this is the end of time, and sits there waiting for the dawn of day once more... (damn i went so hard on a meme)
