Thanks I appreciate you watching through my videos! I’m unbelievably particular which is no secret haha, I just get obsessed over the process and achieving a certain aesthetic, combined with a logical approach. I’ve found myself fortunate enough to have clients that share the same values that I have in my approach, so they’re understanding about the time and materials involved to achieve the desired results. Although if my game plan changes during an install and/ or there’s an opportunity to do something different, better or even additional I have no issues putting in the extra and effort without additional payment. The enjoyment and fulfilment for me is in the work itself and the finances have always been secondary. Thanks again for watching!

Similar to ABS but much easier to work with and doesn't smell either. Thanks man! I've had a lot of interest in this install and I'm considering putting together a comprehensive kit like in this video that I can ship out so people can carry out this exact installation themselves. Even down to pre-programming the amplifier/DSP to make things really easy for people, pre-wiring looms, every single screw, bolt washer, mount etc so there's minimal friction for the end user and they get a high end installation carried out by themselves/ their local shop.

Anyone considering doing this yourself the Audison speakers are great and can be easily fitted direct on the doors with off the shelf mdf speaker rings with the tweeters mounted in the recess on the doors. Also the phone can be mounted in the centre console fairly easily. The rear cover is removed with two screws, the old Nokia holder tray is easily un screwed from below, prise off the bottom cover by the hinge push out the phone socket and then route through the USB, socket back in and then tuck the USB along the side panel and up under the the removed main centre console panel. I’m driving the speakers direct from the HU in network mode so active x overs...

Hi, the content you create is TOP, and the video editing is great! I wanted to ask if when you use resin and make molds from silicone forms, do you degas the resin in a vacuum chamber and then put it into a pressure pot to cure? What does this process look like, and should a pressure pot be used for every type of resin? Many Thanks ! Sebastian 😃

Amazing work and documentary, because this is not YT normal level of quality. May I ask what kind of resin are you using?
@RTAFabrication2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Chris! Yes sure, the resin is polyurethane casting resin, specifically a product called Xencast P2 from Easy Composites. It’s got a two minute pot life and with my working conditions I can de-mould in roughly 40 - 60 minutes depending on the part’s thickness, geometry etc. I also add around 15% milled carbon fibre of the total weight (part A and part B combined), which makes the properties of the P2 closer to their P6 resin, but with the cure times of P2. I’m sure I’ve pinned a comment in the comments of this video where I’ve had a discussion with another user about resins so might be worth checking that out too. Thanks again for watching!

2.18 i wonder, it is abs or pla?
@RTAFabrication2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Mert! I actually exclusively use a modified ASA firmament for every part that I print, specifically Form Futura Apollo-X. PLA definitely isn’t suited for vehicle interior applications and I just don’t like using ABS. The ASA sands down like ABS and doesn’t melt with the friction of sanding like PLA does, but I find the ease of printing comparable to PLA, so you get the best of both. The properties of the material also is well suited to a vehicle interior.
@MertNazmiSerin2 жыл бұрын
@@RTAFabrication Thank you very much for your valuable and informative answer. I am interested in diy manufacturing, i have not enought knowlage about engineering plastics. Your channel amazing for this. Umm last question, ABS dissolves in acetone, how about ASA? thank you again and sorry my bad English & grammer mistakes.
@RTAFabrication2 жыл бұрын
No problem at all. I’m glad you’ve found some value in them! I haven’t actually used acetone to smooth out prints before, as I tend to sand and add a glazing filler. I do believe that ASA reacts the same to acetone as ABS does though.

@RTAFabrication Жыл бұрын
Hey! If you’re referring to the ashtray insert that I moulded and cast a copy of, then the resin used for that is Xencast P2, which is a polyurethane resin from a company called Easy Composites. It’s a 1:1 mix of part A and part B, so there’s no separate hardener. Thanks for watching!
