Bit of a tip for you Dutch - if you want to catch chickens get a length of thick wire about 6 feet long and bend it at one end to form a hook. Make it about three inches long and about an inch wide. Use it to hook the chickens leg. They usually don't see it coming - makes it really easy to catch them during the day.

Some people get the food grade storage pails with twist on lids and store the bulk dry goods in them in the shed instead of the trailer with smaller quantities in the trailer
@Sleekfalcon3 жыл бұрын
We have our can goods and extras in the storage bay under the bed in front. We have to go outside but it is the entire width of the camper. Then we have a small deep freezer outside to hold additional cold items we cannot fit in the fridge. It is a cool idea with the containers and shed though, something we may look into in the future. I always thought about turning a small shed into a pantry just never have. I love shopping once a month when possible. Bulk is the best especially with a large family and it saves fuel running to the store constantly.

Keep in mind for a little extra added storage use your microwave to store things as well as inside your oven even though it's a might be a little bit of a pain taking things in and out it's still storage and if you have any storage on the outside of that camper utilize it as well for things that you don't really use often or that you use it but not on a day-to-day basis if that makes sense. Keep things that you know that you're only going to use and get rid of old things and get rid of things you don't use very often or put it in storage of some kind. It's amazing when you move just how much stuff things accumulate LOL. No worries Brandy you got this! Love you all's videos.

FYI an EXCELLENT generator sound barrier can be had by stacking about 3 or 4 high straw bales between the generator and the camper. Either as a single 'wall' or as a three sided 'U' with the exhaust facing the open end of the 'U'. Optionally, judiciously placed steel T posts can stabilize the bales so that it will last at least 3 to 6 months. Also, laying a few T posts across the top of the 'U' will allow you to lay a removable roof across as well for a weather shield. Ken
@MrScoresby3 жыл бұрын
Good suggestion. In the past for open field sound reduction I used spoiled hay bales to add sound reduction to our Motion picture generators. 8' high walls on 4 four sides and a 'u' shaped hall entrance on the side away from the set. This gave me an additional 15 DBA sound reduction.

PS anchor the bales with 1/2" rebar driven through the bales into the ground and pin additional rows with the same rebar 6'8" long ( 3-per 20' length )

Brandi buy a inside outside rug to go in front of the steps. It will help keeping dirt out of the camper. There's so much you can get like hang some string lights outside. You can buy solar tiny little lights to go high in the trees. They'll look like lightening bugs in the trees. This is going to be so much fun to watch you get creative with decorating outside. Once you start I think you are going to love fixing it up to make it an area to be proud of and a place to enjoy from being in that small living area.

@@vernareed2692 We lived in southern Ohio in a town with a population of about 30000 to 35000 at that time. Our duck always liked to be with us and the kids in the neighborhood. She would squawk at us to come get her if we were across the street and the street was hot. Of course, we wouldn't let her cross the street alone anyway. We made her a pond in the back yard which she enjoyed. We took her with us when we took our dog to the creek to give him a bath and play with him. She loved that! She would dive under water and nibble at our toes. Then when she surfaced, she would squawk as if laughing at us. She was so much fun!

Dutch, I know the idea is offgrid, but that generator is going to eat your lunch in fuel. I think it might be a good idea to have the power company run you a line, then transition to solar from that. Plus you would always have the line in an emergency, like the generator goes bust. Just a thought & it would be more convenient till your setup.

I moved my chickens in the day. Biggest regret/learning issue - either keep groups small in a cage, or give them lots of roosting area. I lost 4 hens due to them sitting on top of each other after we tossed the shavings bags we used to keep them from running under the horse trailer. They all tried to roost on those bags, and the ones that were low totem, ended up roosting on each other, and the bottom hens suffocated. And this was just an hour trip.

Got a break coming for a couple of days, and lots to do outside then! I knew the cage would be fine traveling except for the tarp on it. You can put red plastic over your white flashlite so you can see but the chickens cant. Saves some hassle moving them. Get a bug screen room for your awning so its nicer outside. Its hard to work in this humidity when you arent climatized to it and save ac time for bed time! We are 1.5 hrs east of Ft Smith, Ark.
