00:00 Hello Everyone!
The 2022 FTX Crypto Cup sees Magnus Carlsen, Alireza Firouzja, Levon Aronian, Anish Giri, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Liem Le, Hans Niemann and Praggnanandhaa gather in the Eden Roc Miami Beach Hotel in Miami, Florida for the 2nd Major on the $1.6 million Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. $210,000 and a $100,000 Bitcoin bonus is at stake in the 7-round all-play-all tournament. Each match consists of 4 rapid games on the chess24 Playzone, with the winner earning $7,500 (3 points). If the match is tied there's a blitz tiebreak, with 2 blitz games followed, if needed, by a single Armageddon game. The winner earns $5,000 (2 points) and the loser $2,500 (1).
For each rapid game the players have 15 minutes for all their moves, with a 10-second increment after each move. For blitz games it's 5 minutes and a 3-second increment, while for the Armageddon game White has 5 minutes to Black's 4, but a draw counts as a win for Black. No draw offers are allowed before move 40. Official website: chess24.com/tour

This adhiban baskaran opening from black is so sharp that it would be full of "pause the video" moments...but no one would be able to find not even magnus.. because it's full of absolute absurd engine lines..which are even absurd at the engine standard also..no one knows what happens in this line..fresh least explored opening..perfect choice for a rapid game..tactics flying all over the board...blunderfest absolute pandemonium..black will be constantly asked to prove his compensation for the two pawn sacrifice throughout the game..lil bit if slip from either side and the eval bar will go crazy

Amazing moves at a timely pressure situation by Pragg.
@menpower1
@menpower1 Жыл бұрын
This seems like one of those times when your opponent is low on time but you are the one playing under more time pressure because you are trying to get your opponent to flag. It is also strange that Levon Aronian was trying to win by flagging when his OTB position at 12:00 was noticeably superior. Is he scared of Pragg?
@curiouscat9
@curiouscat9 Жыл бұрын
It's also because when the opponent is low on time, you don't want them to think too much while _your clock is running_ (which is basically free time for the opponent). So you make your moves as fast as possible so the opponent doesn't get a chance to calm down.
@aristosachaion_

Most GMs are at this point lol
@menpower1
@menpower1 Жыл бұрын
 @Curious Cat My chess coach once told me: "People do not flag simply because they have little time on the clock, they flag because they have little time on the clock AND a bad position on the board". So while I understand what Levon Aronian is trying, and I have attempted the same myself, it is risky to compromise on the quality of your own moves to increase the time pressure on your opponent. Someone like Pragg needs but a handful of seconds to checkmate an opponent who is playing sub-optimal moves against him, and this game is stunning proof of that

Sometimes in chess if you play an extremely attacking game, it will phase your opponent psychologically. It puts them in a defensive state of mind, all they can think about is defence, and they can't even consider offensive moves, even though the best defence is almost always an offense. That happened in this game.

This kind of game black would play when he has to win. All Prag needed was a draw. It is littlle confusing for me. Why did he go for such a sharp line? Why to give two pawns and be forced to justify it throughout the game? Why to walk into such a volatile position where one small inaccuracy and game is lost? This is exactly how Levon should have played if he was playing with black not prag. He could have made it easy.

While you are correct strategically, the mindset of a world class chess player should be to push for a win until and unless it is no longer viable. This is how Magnus Carlsen plays -- he recently sacrificed his Queen in a game he only needed to draw. Magnus has also intimated that he is unhappy about how Nepo, his would be World Championship competitor, is too easily satisfied with draws

Any time else in my life we would have seen something like a Berlin snoozefest. I don’t know what’s going on, but all of a sudden the world has changed and everybody wants to play exciting chess. I like it.

After Ne4 then Qd4+ and black is winning. Will either win the Knight or the rook next after Qxb2+

Did Pragg really have 30 seconds or is there that unfair increment of time?

No matter it's black or white Praggs pieces develops quickly and starts attacking ruthlessly !!! If you survive the mid game then chances are Pragg can lose ....but unlikely the way he is playing these days
