I think comparing the box office returns of one of his most recent movies to one of the highest-grossing movies of all time is really pushing it. How about several of his movies throughout time, like Catch me if you can and Inception and Wolf of Wall street? Titanic was released during the late-90s, a very robust era for popular as well as critically-successful movies, and Titanic itself was lightning in a bottle- one of the all time highest grossers at the box office that also swept the hell out of the Oscars. Plus, the box office gross of Once upon a time in Hollywood is still impressive but the summer of 2019 was notorious for the box office competition that movie was up against, with The Lion King remake and the second Spider-Man movie. The fact that it may have suffered in comparison to the aforementioned Disney and Marvel movies isn't on Leo, it's on the recent unfortunate trend of cool original grown-up movies being subsumed by the idiotic fanboy-soothing exercises that pass for movies today, unfortunately a persistent problem in the industry that has really threatened the future of Hollywood itself.
