I know exactly how you feel now. When you're in that type of relationship, whether it be husband, wife, mother, uncle or whoever, it can be very hard to get out and separate yourself. You're very right that when your alarm bells/intuition goes off, you just ignore it. Or when others on the outside try to warn you, you're more than likely to go against them instead of the person you're having a relationship with. They always leave you in a worse position at the end usually because they have another victim on the go. But when they finish with that victim, their aim may be to try and creep back into your life by bombarding you with love and affection until you take the bate and believe me, these people are experts in their field. They know how to manipulate you in all kinds of ways. Glad you got out of it, stay strong in all you do. Take your time as you get back on your feet, and learn from all those mistakes. It's a long road to travel but even consider seeing a Therapist, as its good to talk.
