I stopped contributing to the National Trust after I visited a property where they were peddling the lie that staff who worked in the house were slaves. In those days local poor people were happy to work up at the big house. It was a privilege. To get a family member a job there was life changing, they were well provided for. They were clothed, well fed and had a bed. They were a community. You can’t impose modern values on previous generations , times were totally different. Those poeple who work for the NT should get their facts right.

There has never been any law in NZ that excludes Maori. The compensation money doesn't go to all Maori, just the ones who belong to certain tribal groups. Recently millions of dollars was given because the Govt want to build an electricity dam on a river. Having got that they are now going for loss of 'mana' (spiritual force) due to the dam. Our Tŕeaty of Waitangi just keep making settlements then the other tribes get more money for 'parity'. The Treaty is 3 short paragraphs long. The irony is that Maori asked the British to come here in the first place.

I live in the Yorkshire Dales and the National Trust has a lot of farms round and about. I must say I have not seen them rent them to anyone who is not white. Do what you preach National Trust or is it that they can't find anyone other than white people who want and have the skills to run these farms.
