For what it's worth. I'd be as interested in a series detailing your rehab, as I would in a video about the next big event you do.

@@ferguscrawley95 he he sure ye’ll figure something out. Most of us following this channel are injured from time to time. I’m preparing for a race in September next year and, well, let’s just say that it’s a better to remember prehab before rehab.

I bought one of your programs before you negotiated the new setup with Training Peaks to give us full control over the program. This was one of the biggest frustrations for me and it speaks volumes to how much you care about your customers that you went ahead and improved this experience for us. Cheers.

Dont put more pressure on yourself. We have seen the amazing stuff that you do and the process behind it. And getting an injury or sickness and having to learn to cut back and deal with is (sadly) also often part of the process. a lot of times we have so high expectations on our body and mind that at some point something just snaps, its probably relatable for everybody here. Make sure you do your rehab stuff and relax your mind a bit and youll come back stronger than before. We will be here to see your progress as always :)

Just bought your ironman plan to train for my first one! I've been eyeing it for a while and this deal pushed me over the edge. You're a huge inspiration to me as a big guy triathlete who also values strength. Hope you recover well!

At 43 years old and somewhat broken from years of rugby, I have set myself a personal hybrid challenge to complete on my 44th birthday. My big goal is to hit an SBD 1RM PB followed by a sub 22min 5k in under an hour. Somewhat little compared to others but I’m aiming for 120kg bench, 150kg squat (maybe more depends how the winter goes) and a 200kg deadlift before running the sub 22. I reckon that’s a decent enough effort!

Great content as always Fergus! Been following your channel for a while and find your content inspirational. This video sums up how the second half of 2024 has been for me, as I have been battling injuries and illnesses for most of the Summer and Autumn. I had a big year in 2023 cycling my first 100miles, completing my first olympic distance triathlon, runnning my first marathon and running a 40mins 10km. This year I was meant to do the T100 at London, but had to withdraw due to illness. Thankfully, I have moved past the illnesses now, so the rest of 2024 and and winter months of 2025 are being dedicated to building a strong foundation and addressing imbalances across my body to set me up for 2025 and beyond. All the foundation building is needed as I have taken the step into Ironman and have booked IM Leeds. To echo some of the other comments, injury content would be really insightful and reassuring that you are in fact human (despite my suspicions after you completed the double brutal and your 250km). I hope the recovery goes well and you can start working on those goals for 2025! Look forward to seeing more content soon! ✌

Fergus, this was an interesting video, so often I see you as kind of a superman, and no put down of you but it's good for me to see you are not a perfect person, but just a normal guy who also has the same problems as the rest of us

Stress is a huge player, I got a couple of long standing hip and shoulder injuries during a really stressful time, the hip took me a year of hard work to overcome the problems. I never usually deal with injuries like this.

Great video, nice to see some stuff about recovery. Always miss stuff like that. I have been recovering from multiple injuries for months now and sometimes its really hard when it seems like high level athletes never have to deal with stuff. So thankyou for this video. Btw, where is Benji from? He sounds like he has an accent which combines rich people english, german and french

I'll be honest, given your training load you've probably gotten off pretty easy injury wise. I have a tonne of respect for what you've accomplished and the brand you've built (which is genuinely positive, rather than faux-positive as most fitness influencers are) but hybrid training particularly with such massive endurance demands is a very difficult beast to manage. Good luck with the rehab and I don't think anyone would blame you if you tailored your training a bit more towards longevity/injury-prevention going forward, such as scaling back from the ultramarathons in particular. We'll all still be here regardless of whether you run 200km through a Scottish winter!

You are the second youtuber I watched today that is dealing with serious injuries. I am only a year or two younger than you and always looked up to your training and even having the 1 on 1 program done for a few months. The both of you pushed me through training days of low motivation, getting me to train when I wanted to skip and have a rest day. But seeing two of my favorite youtubers struggle with injuries made me realise that I did a good thing taking a rest day yesterday when I nor normally wouldnt have done that

I’ve been solid for about 6 years without any issue now so I’m due something like this tbh! Sensible, progressive training is the 🔑 all the best with yours!

I hope it’s not hip impingement. I (and several physios) thought mine was hip flexor issues or bursitis until I got imaging and then I already had severe cartilage damage.
@ferguscrawley953 күн бұрын
Hope all is better your end sir! Good news is I had an MRI for my other hip (lol) for some glute med area bursitis which didn’t present anything concerning - so it would be unlikely to be a severe degradation on cartilage in such a (relatively) short space of time. Hopefully can make progress without another scan, but if it’s needed, then we shall see 🙃

I think if you really commit to a sub 3 marathon you can have a project that will satisfy your thirst for doing hard stuff but leave you with less chance of an overuse injury. Just do the rehab first.

@@FunkZoned respectfully, you can’t have enough context from this video (and superficial overview of training/events from the channel as a whole) to draw distinct conclusions from behind a screen. But I shall indeed be seeing Benji once a month until back firing on all cylinders 🫡

But my point is once you’re firing all cylinders, continuing to do the maintenance, not waiting for things to hurt and then going to see him… i’m not trying to draw distinct conclusions, it would be pretty obvious advice for anyone operating at your level, respectfully
