I seriously thought that Milan would run away with the game after they scored. I thought Atlanta would collapse because Gasperini got sent off. Instead, the total opposite happened. And I have no idea why. In the blink of an eye, Milan just disappeared. I can't explain it. But Milan definitely needs to sign 3 players. A quality striker with 20+ goals in him and a solid CDM and CB. I definitely felt Milan could have won this tournament. I do feel we'll finish 3rd this season in the league, and we'll just have to see how far Milan goes in the Europa League. But for me, let Pioli stay until the season's end and replace him for the new season. Pioli definitely out for me.

Every times we started with 3 CB formation, I knew we would lose. It’s all on Pioli. Calabria and Theo as CB while he had Simic, Gabbia, and Simon Kajer available. Also, Musah on the right wing as RWB, and only two midfielders Tijani, RLC against 5-6 Atalanta midfielders which led to zero supports and creativities to pass the ball upfront. All we had to do is just playing everybody at their Natural positions, 4-3-3 or even 4-2-3-1 with 2 CB ( Simic, Kajer or Gabbia), 2 fullback Theo on the left and Calabria on the right, and finally 3 midfielders as we always played (Reinjder, RLC, Adli or Musah) and 3 regular attacking (Leao, Pulisic, Giroud or Jovic) To Mr Pioli, We will be playing with top and mid-table teams so Just freaking stick to 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation that we most comfortably play with. Dont overthinking and play everybody out of their positions FFS 🤬. You as a bad coach have a very limited in coaching and creating new system. So just do a simple thing play your best players at their best positions and in your capable formation. Thank u!!! And Bye 👋🏻 on Summer.

Leao has to be the most frustrating player on this team. He might be a bright spot and at any moment can make something by himself but too often he is over touching, too many cutbacks which just allows the defense to get back and shut down any attack they might have. He needs to learn that everything needs to be flashy, make the simple play

While yes I think he played well today. In general he often seems to beat his man and then do one too many moves or cut backs after which just allows the defense to get back and take away any advantage that the attack might of created. He is an amazing talent and will never deny that but I think if he could simplify some things and just make the right play instead of the flashy one

Have you consider it that Leao dosen't have a decent team mate to help him in attack? Look how many passes and crosses he send into the box. When he was running on the left flank I haven't seen another Milan player to go and help him, that is why Theo is important for Leao, when Leao is going foward Theo makes the run and helps him if Theo is stuck CB or don't go foward Leao is isolated

Due to modern methods people in their late 30s have still thrived in virtually every sport. I'd say we need to focus on midfield, defense and a backup goalie. We tend to forget this team just integrated 6 crucial players into the rotation while losing one integral link for half the season and another forever.

RLC is not a 10... Pioli needs to play Simic at CB and move Theo back to his position, don't know what Pioli's problem with Simic is. Also Pioli killed Jovic form, why did he bench him in the last game

Good analysis, as always. Fair ratings. I like RLC, but I think he's best as an 8, where he can drive the ball forward from deeper on the pitch with strength and momentum. As a 10, he doesn't have the creativity and quick decision-making in the final third. Puli was allowed to drift inside a bunch, especially in the first half. I like Pulisic inside, but that space was often crowded with RLC playing high. Puli is best when he receives the ball with his back to his defender, uses his quickness to circle the defender and then darts into the space between the lines, leading the attack. He either draws yellow cards (when the defender has no choice but to grab him), or he leads a dangerous attack through the middle. That puts pressure on the CBs and opens up passing lanes. But that space was not there because of where RLC was positioned.

If you look at our team during a defense, you will see that we don't keep layers of D-line formation and move as a unit like the other teams do. Every Milan player is everywhere without any defensive pattern. This allows the other teams to easily shoot inside our box or at the edge of the box, or simply dribble into the box and pass to a free player while our players are just running back to take position. This is frustrating to watch.n

Exactly. It was made worse by Pioli moving Pulisic into the center of the field. I will say that Jimenez was left out to dry on the penalty. No one came back to help. Leao is never going to track back that far. But I don't want to rag on Leao today. He made a couple of good diagonal runs into the box with no one passing to him. More effort today from him.

Only our stupid all-out attack (a toothless attack by the way) tactic still prone to this cutting in from the wing. This is why other teams don't leave Leao or Kvara to be 1 on 1 with RB/LB.

Leao is big problem for Milan, he lose every single ball, giving non sense passes, I dont know why he always dribbles on the left why he dont go inside , he dont know to cross like a normal player, he messed up so many good chances because of the selfishness. Totally agree with retreating back down to Magnian. Multiple times did Milan bring the ball backwards and totally allowed Atalanta the freedom to press up the pitch without earning those yards. It was maddening. Particularly when Milan’s midfield wasn’t making space for themselves to allow the CB’s to get them the ball and get into attacking options. Reijnders was too static for me. Our midfield were dominated. Musah and Jiminez should have both been hooked at the half. For our forwards, the gotta have someone on midfield being willing to pass the balls. All three of them were running in behind looking and the balls never came through. 🤷‍♂️ I don’t think they were all on the same page tactically. Which is on the Gaffer. Thanks for the video!! Midfield is probably not allowed to make those forward passes because if they get intercepted they get a clean counter because there is just so to much space between our players especially in the midfield and this has been our problem for more than a year now but Pioli has been just too stubborn to change anything and management is penny pinching and allowing for this mediocrity instead of changing our head coach a year ago like most clubs would have done...

The way I see it, with attackers, the only difference between a 3 game or a 5 game is that goal/goal contribution. Look at the game against Sassuolo. All it takes is 1 goal and his entire rating is salvaged/different.

I’m happy you gave Leao the credit he desires and most importantly called attention to how Leao is always swarmed by 2,3,4 or even 5 opposition players at a time. So many of the new fans who support Milan because of Pulisic (who I love btw, HUGE upgrade from Messias/Saelemaekers) always hate on Leao because they’re jealous that he plays in Pulisic’s preferred position. The hate Leao’s received this season from Pulisic stans comes across so bitter. Leao and Pulisic have both been great this season, just enjoy them both and support your club.

Its a horrible idea to play both Musah and RLC at the same time. Both are ball carrying 8s and not particularly creative passers. Playing similar profiles in the midfield is never a good thing.

Accurate. Others say Musah is bad, I don't think he's bad, he's just young and therefore inconsistent, but he also fits a certain playstyle and I've seen MANY managers attempt to play midfielders especially with a different playstyle and its VERY hit or miss, it often matters who you play. Musah is absolutely a carrying box to box player, he's not a passing player with vision like Adli, but he can carry the ball between the lines and do defensive work. He can work outside right (has shown that in the past) so can interchange with the RW. Doesn't mean he's going to be good every game.

Love your videos but have to disagree with your view on Rafa’s performance today. Outside of the goal, I was extremely disappointed. He does draw a lot of defenders like you said, but it seemed to me outside of the play he scored he gave the ball away constantly. I honestly caught myself thinking maybe we sell him and buy other players like we did with Tonali. His attitude on the field is also hard to watch. Throwing his hands in the air when he doesn’t get the ball. When he does get the ball and gives it away he just neglects defense altogether. I would rather have some upcoming talent that wants to work hard for their teammates and is excited to be at Milan (I thought Terracciano played like he was excited to be there today).

If we had to lose a game I’m glad it’s this one. Have to keep up league form. We can trim the gap at the top. Need to play simic gabbia and kjar in middle not theo unless absolute emergency again. We have options if Theo needs rest but we need him back on the left regularly.

Pioli is frustrating. Atalanta was putting 3 defenders on pulisic too, any time laeo or puli had the ball 3 players would swarm. How can the coach not figure out how to use that as an advantage? Anticipate that and make them pay.

C'mon. Yes, Leao draws 2 to 5 players, but the frustrating part is that he still tries to beat all 5 by himself. That's probably why teams overload on him, because he'll try to beat them all. He needs to see that he's being quintuple-teamed and then immediately pass the ball to an open teammate.

And he did, he was quintuple-teamed and still managed to get the ball to Musah who skied his shot over the cross bar. I will never criticize Leao for not passing the ball inside the box, 7/10 times he does pass. It's when he's outside the box that he, at times doesn't use teammates enough.

Don’t blame Jovic or any striker for this performance, milan was sloppy and could not string 3 passes together let alone create chances for him. We need creative players like adli who look to string passes for the striker. A lot of our players are good but soooo selfish and either try to dribble the entire team of shoot from ridiculous places. We need serious players who can help us create a unit; at the moment milan is nothing more than a clump of individual talents. Always a recipe for failure, thats why cohesive teams like atalanta look so much better than us.

I don't think it's really the players. The coach isn't tactically sound. He basically gives the players freedom to express themselves and that's probably why the players continue to stand by him. But problems always arise when certain players are played out of position or the matchday squad is selected out of favoritism as opposed to current form. All of last season our team couldn't even complete short passes. Although we have improved we still dont have an identity. We don't have a brand and that's the coach fault.

Thanks for the videos. However, I have a few different take. No way Leao gets a 5. Good first half, great goal but 2nd didn’t do anything. I think you should analyze Milan’s ability to connect with the medium/long ball. Defenders and midfielders. IMO, this is why the strikers never have situations to do anything. Too many times they are going against multiple defenders. Your picture is a perfect example of that. I see that on both sides with Leao and Pulisic.

almost totally agree with your assessment. Musah the worse folled by Jovic and then Jimenez. Even though it may not have been a foul on Jimenez he was out of position and lost the ball drivbling numerous time. Teams no the Milan is going to attack from the wings and if it is not a fast attack, the wingers on either side face 3-4 defenders to beat. The midfielders were below average except for Rejinders who was average. Leao was Ok, gets a boast with the goal. Pulisic was a little below average- bad crosses but a point for dropping back and carrying the ball forward. Theo I thought was the best player. Aldi seemed lost. Piroli needs to be able to make adjustments when he sees that the team is getting ripped apart defensively. There were no numbers back on defense. Same as in the first game's second half.

I'm so sick of Adli, it looks like he has no chemistry with anyone always dribbling with his head down and hunched over, every once in awhile he has a nice through pass but he is terrible at corners and crossing lately. The second half of this game I saw leao trying the same move over and over again, the young kids throwing the ball away every time we had a throw in, and wasting our set piece opportunities. The best way this team plays is one or two touch play but those have been such rare moments this season, we have good pacey wings but play tiky tak up the field, it seems like a bunch of individuals on one team and we have gotten lucky this season so far by our talent being in the right place at the right time mostly which mostly is credited to the individual that day. Injuries are a huge problem but that's not enough of an excuse for Pioli to keep his job in my opinion # PioliOut

I think jimenez need to be the starter and calabria should go in the bench becouse jimenez normally play on the right, theo simic gabbia jimenez should be the line up now, sorry for kjaer but as soon as pioli did put him on the field he wasn't even able to run behind a ball while he was completely alone and also on the first goal he had no chance to cover on the cross but he did try anyway leaving all the space for koopmainers which then scored, the spot where koopmainers did shot was the spot where kjaer should have been, reijnders is amazing i love him and i hope he stay with us for a lot of years, leao also a decent game but he need to come back to cut in the center and do more variety of dribblings becouse now most of the times he do the double step and then go on the outside, i remember not too much time ago he use to dribble in every possible direction while now is very monotonous

Pioli was clueless as ever. Playing Jimenez against Atalanta was asking for a disaster. Once we were behind, Pioli once again had no clue what to do. Subs were way too late, play was static, morale gone. Can't wait for Pioli to be fired, even if it's in the Summer.

I like your chanel but you are wrong here, there was not a fault between De Roon and Gabbia, the Atalanta player ran into Gabbia who was trying to hit the ball but instead Roon is hitting Gabbia's head. Not even Atalanta fans can say it was a penalty. Yes Jimenez a bit reckless but let's be honest the referee was very much against Milan, easy penalty gaven to Atalanta and a clear penalty on a handball not gaven to Milan but we should be able to win the games without penalties. The blame is on Pioli for losing this game, the whole game this team had no idea what was doing, Musah was playing RW for some reasons, Pulisic was either in the centre or in the left flank with Leao and Jovic was invisible I agreed but how many balls he actually got in the box? I haven't seen any good pass or cross to say he had a chance, the only one who was trying was Leao but he was always marked by 3-4 defenders. The last thing I hate about Pioli is the fact that he keeps playing Theo as CB when he has Gabbia, Kjaer and Simic, but this is something normal for this guy, Jimenez is a RB but he is playing him LB, FLorenzi RB but playing LB, Theo, Loftus again playing as CAM when he is a central mildfielder and the list continues. I said it from last year Milan needs a new manager to take it to the next level.

Sorry but I'm not buying Leao returning to form with 2G 3A in 5 games. Yes, it's good statistic but when you watch him play there's no more that magic performance that he used to do in scudetto season or season before that. His biggest problem is that he convinced himself that he is a star and the best player in the world but yet he can't even score constistently. In a recent interview he said that he is top 3 wingers in a world. Yea, keep dreaming. Vinicius, Rodrygo, Mbappe, Kvara, Foden and so on and so on- all better and more consistent then him. So yeah. I genually think that him and Pioli sre blocking this team from becoming title condenders to say at least. And mark my words, if we somehow manage to get Conte hopefully, his first action will be to sell Leao mainly because of his attitude and not being a team player. And I hope that happens

Hey, ofc the second half was an unorganized team. So, you're going down 2-1 and you decide to place 3 centerbacks. For me Pioli's not bad, but omg today he was more afraid of getting more goals than achieving victory, so frustrating to see the team fall apart after that tactical change. And excuse me but Kjaer is a drop. He doesn't have the attitude, you could see him walking all the time, and afraid to jump to the man because he knows he's slow, aerial duels most of the time he lose, physical duels just get to incomodate the opponent. For me it's pretty clear why they brought Gabia and Theo plays at the back

The lack of forward play by Milan is frustrating. Everytime we’re in the final third, our players feel it better to pass the ball back rather than play it in. Secondly, we barely have any quality balls going into the 18 yard through corners or lofted balls which is excruciating to watch. Thirdly and lastly we need to switch Terraciano to the right back position imo he seems like a huge upgrade to Calabria being both technically sound and faster.

How you lack tactical and coaching directions when assigning ratings based on half to half performances. Pulisic was pushed wide intentionally by Pioli around 65 ish minute or. I’d eat through the second when all Of us who watched the game watch create chances and maestro the game from the CAM in the first half. You could tell he was super frustrated being so far wide. Bc that’s leaos strong suit not his. He earned player of the month in serie A and best left winger of the midway season for serie A bc he dominates from the inverted winger/ half space that CAM or pinched in wide man would play. What we really should say is we all Got it wrong with jovic. And Giroud like it or not still gives us the best chance to play puli and leao in their natural positions along with reidners RLC and musah or adli. And Pioli please stop with musah wide. I will add that his deliveries into The box were poor compared to what he usually Delivers for sure. But he still won 10 duels, 60 touches, 2 chances created, 4 successful dribbles out of 6 or 7. He was their second best attacking threat it’s just the second half was such a drop off by instructjon from Pioli.

It's AC Milan, not AC Pulisic. I know American fans watching Milan games are just staring and obsessing over every step Pulisic takes, but we don't watch the game that way. EVERY SINGLE PLAYER has to make in-game adjustments, if Pulisic was asked to adjust to a wider role - which he was signed for because that's what Milan has needed for 3 seasons - he has to then perform in it and if his performance is below par in that role, he gets called out like every other player on the team. Plus, it's not like for the first 65 mins, he was a world beater, it was the Leao, Theo, Reijnders tandem that caused most damage and its okay, Pulisic won't have a 10/10 night every night, we have to stop whining every time the guy gets the tiniest amount of criticism.

I think you got all the others pretty close to correct but once again our midfield was overrun defensively which is why we struggled emesnsly in transition for large large parts of the game and theos and Rafas turnovers as well as Tijanis positioning come into question. You just seem to protect your favs that’s all. But you’re getting people talking in positive way about the sport wr all love. And you put in great efforts to do so. And I respect the hell outta that. We'll find out in the long term if the move worked or not based on how many trophies he can win, in the short term he's probably been the best signing and not just this season but in a few seasons now. I am not sure if he's the answer to Milan's problems at the highest level against the top teams but I think till now he's been a solid 7/10 signing.
