I was 35 and madly in love with my wife. Just a wonderful person. She was sadly diagnosed with terminal cancer and had 6 months to live. We needed a caregiver and hired a young girl to assist us. She was in her late twenties and so caring. As time went by I noted that she was a true angel to both of us. On the night she passed away she was in my arms and background music was playing. As she spoke her last words, "I'll always love you," this song started playing. And tears just flowed down our eyes. In her last breath she said the following words to me...if you ever remarry, marry an angel. A year later I did...our caregiver. I have never forgotten this song, which of course reminds of her passing. Dan and Coley...such good music!

When I was 20 in 1975, I fell deeply in love with a man, and he was very much in love with me. After a few months, I found out he was married and had a child. I moved far away to escape the relationship. My heart was broken, and every time this song would play on the radio, I would cry. Bla bla bla....when i was 15 years old a freshman college boy answered my question, “Do you like me” by responding with the title of this song. It’s sad to belong to someone else when the right one comes along. He was dating a girl on and off and went out of his way to flirt with me. We exchanged letters while he was away at school and led me to believe he wanted to date me. Every time i heard this song i wanted to cry. What do you mean when the right one comes along? Break up and date me! He was my first love and i was very naive and shy. Apparently he was serious with the girl and ended up marrying her. It took me decades to get over him. It turns out that they’ve had a rocky marriage and no children. He ended up being a jerk. i ended up marrying the man of my dreams and have 3 beautiful kids and 3 grandkids...score! Isn’t that a great story? I no longer feel anything but thankful when i hear this song ha ha!

You mentioned you had children with the man of your dreams (the window to have healthy happy children past a certain age is short) then imo theres no reason to marry ( in my humble opinion) You were saved from certain disaster from that guy and Yeah def thankful that you didnt end up being the girl that was the first guy s choice. To be honest, I never really believed in "Love Stories", I always thought it was a vocabulary full of illusions, which would always be subject to great disappointment, until a beautiful day ............. .....I found my happiness in a magical way !!! It was early spring and we were both walking down the same street, coming back after a long day at work, me going to university and she to high school, we crossed paths and our eyes. I felt something very strong (bigger than myself), a few meters ahead I came back and talked to her and I was sure that she felt the same (pure magic of destiny). We dated, we got married, we had kids, kids got married and we are together after more than thirty years.Our feelings were correct, that connection of looks was true love, strong enough to last a lifetime. Where's the honor in that if you know in your soul that it ran its course? If another person consumes your mind & owns your heart, then of what worth is your body to your spouse? Your spouse deserves ALL of you & vice versa. If neither of you is fully present in your marriage, then (again) what is either of you even being faithful to?

It was 1981......late May......springtime. I had just graduated from the University with a squeaky clean degree and my first job was in an Alaska gold mine......running a Cat excavator. Close to the mine an attractive lady in her early 30's was stuck in a muddy rut in her Suburu. I pulled her out and we chatted for a half hour near her car. This song came on her car radio just as I was asking her for her phone number. We both stood there in silence until the song was over. She was already married. We saw each other all summer near the goldmine, but never stepped out of bounds. At the end of the summer she gave me a small silver medallion as a token of our friendship. 40 years later I still remember her.........Shelley.
