Not really. It makes for a "worst of both worlds" kind of strategy. The best you can do nowadays is playing Sacred Cat and Basilisk Gate, this gives you a decent early game that does not slow down your gameplan and allows you to play an awkward but capable midrange deck should you fail to establish your engine. But having played it a lot, it's just the worst part of caw gates combined with the worst parts of dredge. Still probably good enough for a 3-2 in leagues though with enough practice and anti-meta choices.

I´ve seen a newer version of dredge opting for going more into Jund by adding some copies of Oliphaunt (the red version of Troll and Ent) and going as low as 12 lands. It has both maverick and mire and adds the new vampire lifelink mill 2 and the desert conduit pylons. Some add a couple of copies of Circle of the Land Druid. What do you think about that new version? At the start of next month I am thinking of buying this deck but I was unsure to either buy normal Golgari dredge or buy the red package additionally, is not that expensive as the oliphaunt, the new vampire and the pylons are pretty cheap, the thing would be deckbuilding.

I have seen a 12 land version but with exhume not this one. Where did you see it? It's probably best to buy in as much as possible so you can swap around though

Nice! Curious about why coffin purge and not rotten reunion? Since you can use the decayed zombie for the dread return flashback as well.

The flashback cost. That one mana has won me every single mirror match to date. Plus, playing the deck, you spend a lot of time at 3 mana playing a 2 drop and holding this up, or playing a stinkweed and holding this up at 4 mana.

I don't know if I like this version of the deck having only watched round one. The low land count is concerning when 8 of your creatures' value comes not only from the mill they provide but from the land drops they help find. Satyr and Prowler are going to miss so much more often with so few lands. Maybe this version needs the Rubblefort Maverick instead of one of the aforementioned creatures to lower the curve and smooth out your draws?

It might seem counter intuitive and I mean yeah you do miss sometimes but without them you're not hitting enough land drops to hard cast dread return or trolls. They also dig a lot deeper then rubblebelt, and if they miss lands they're digging for creature count, gnaws, acorns, or dreads which is just gas.

It seems like it could be ok, but the only card it would replace is mire triton. I think the lifegain and deathtouch might be too good to cut

What do you think of one or two copies of Swarming Infestation? 3 cmc, but 2x mill trigger each turn with potential to go wide with 1/1 tokens

I tried extremely hard to make it work. I ran 1-4 copies in the 75 at various points in time. The short answer is that it is too slow. The long answer is that it is either a worse acorn harvest, a worse Wayfinder, or you're wishing it was gnaw to the bone. It is only really good when everything else is going great for you.
