Bib shorts and chamois butter to keep your behind comfortable. Plenty of water with electrolite tablets to keep lactic acids from building up in your leg muscles. Keep your tires aired up to the "minium pressure" for lower tire rolling resistance. Start a bike riding routine and build up mileage and endurance as you go. Do not try to do your ride without this training because you will only "Fail" miserably. Oh and carry a spare tire tube, mini hand air pump and bike tool kit for repairs. At 71 yrs of age (4 yrs ago) I rode from Seattle to Portland (206 miles) in one day used the above items including one tire tube due to flatting my rear tire and was not sore nor tired! We used plenty of time to rest at intervals and spent 16 hrs total on the our trip . Total riding time was 12 1/2 hrs. If you do the above things you can do your trip while enjoying the ride. Oh yea, our mid July ride was done in 90* F temps and you know PNW humidity is not low at this time of year. (35-45%)
