The British reference represent the Opium wars in the 19th century where Britain wanted Chinese tea but China stopped trade due to their isolationism. So they sold them opium instead which got Chinese people addicted. When China banned Opium and burned merchants stores down it gave Britain a Casus belli to declare war and when they won, China was forced to cede Hong-Kong, pay war reparations and open its ports to trade with British merchants.

His last words, it is said, were those of a disgraced gentleman; he was stoic, brave and a visionary who internally struggled against the terrible ideas and principles of those who brought him to Mexico, all for the sake of the well-being of those who had received him -or so he had been led to believe- as the new ruler of a poor and battered distant land. *Dixit:* _«Voy a morir por una causa justa, la de la independencia y la libertad de México. Que mi sangre selle las desgracias de mi nueva patria. ¡Viva México!» / I am going to demise for a just cause, that of the independence and freedom of México. May my blood seal the misfortune of my new homeland. Long live México!»._ Su alteza imperial, Maximiliano I de México, was gradually abandoned by his allies, and his chances of making new were disminished. All of his attempts to parley with the president Benito Juárez, and thus reach a peace agreement to govern together, were roundly rejected. The conservative sector in the country, those who advocated a monarchy, were dissatisfied with the lack of reforms in their favor, so they began to conspire against him. The State that declared themselves in favor of the Emperor, once invaded by the army of the republic, were slaughtered and forced to swear allegiance to the president. And the French Expeditionary Forces that accompanied him and made his regime posible, once requieres on the front lines of France's other wars, also left him. He died with no other choice, leaving behind hundreds of projects that fused the best ideas of his native Europe with the kind nature and needs of his new people. Indeed, his only mistake was accepting a cursed throne, in the «navel of the moon»...

and then you're way too strong and it isn't even 1870 yet so, unable to conquer a lot of land due to game mechanics, you start investing in factories in every single part of the world aviable, single handedly industrializing earth as you're painfully aware it's all for naught anyway and the countries you are investing in now will hate you for being imperialist colonialist 100 years late, after nationalizing all the factories you built of course also, looking at all the pops in your ever larger empire not assimilating into german fast enough you know your country is in for multiple wars of independence and genocides within the next century, and probably will be reduced to less than modern germany's borders before 21st century dawns with every next tiny province conquered in pointless war of aggression, and with every factory build in a foreign country you know you're digging your own grave, but the game doesn't allow you to do anything else. So you get bored and provoke a commie revolution for the heck of it. You get a commie casus belli on the entire world, and communize the world. Great video, but should have changed the Confederate flags according to year, and what's up with Paraguay?
@MarcoCaprini-do3dq3 ай бұрын
Basically Paraguay found itself in a war with Uruguay, Brazil and Argentina. It lost 60% of its population including 90% of the male population.

I don't know if Russians during the year 1860 were happy, especially when they were serfs slaving in a outdated feudal system while the rest of Europe was prospering. Even when they were relinquished from their serfdom they needed to toil 11 hours in factories as well as living in them under really poor conditions.

Well, in general, serfdom was very much limited since 1789, and after its abolition, name the country in which there was a normalized work schedule? , in general, the first country that introduced an 8-hour working day is Ecuador, but as for the standard of living, RI even surpassed many European countries, + it was far from being in all regions of Russia, for example, in the south it was absent and any peasant who reached the Don was considered free, as well as in Siberia, since it was colonized by people with either personal freedom or criminals
