Diane Valentino lettered both stories. She is credited on the 2nd printing. The lettering seems the same as the first printing to my eye

Jim & Ed. Thank you for running the best channel on comics on KZbin. Secondly, thanks for this wonderul trip down memory lane. I've been rereading a lot of 90s stuff the last couple of months, especially Spawn and Spidey. I wasn't so much into Youngblood back then, but I read Liefeld's X-Force. And I remember being an excited comic book nerd when Image started.

Man I was 11 years old and my father owned a baseball card comic book store then. It was a great time to be into this, huge valiant fan and then Image. I also played Magic the gathering in those days. I love how you guys nerd out it makes me go back in time and think the same things.

I would love to see an Image Founders Shoot Interview. Image comics was the biggest game changer in my comics experience (dating back to 1990). Love what you guys do.

I had to hunt all over the greater Pittsburgh metro area, 25 miles from my hometown in West Virginia for this issue. I found it at a small baseball card shop in a dirt mall north of the city. They kept a small rack of comics for the speculators. It was one of the rare moments when you hold something that represents the start of something new. Like Spawn #1 or Jim Lee’s X-Men #1. Fun time to be a comic book fan.

Thanks for this historic overview! I still have mine from my mullet days, but I couldn't tell you what was in it! Also, thanks for the Concrete shout out! One of my favorite indies back then! Last year I picked up a Dark Horse Presents 1 and Concrete 1 just in honor of it! Cheers!

Watching now on my way to the gym. Really excited about this one, guys. “Changed my trajectory” is such a great way to mention how Image comics shifted my idea of what was possible in a comic.

Am I losing my mind or was this posted before? I remember Ed cutting promos on Hank Kanalz's dialogue in the scene between Chapel and his girlfriend. Granted, the dialogue gives plenty of opportunities to cut promos, so I could be wrong.

Although I now see Liefeld’s work as flawed and lacking fundamental drawing concepts, his comics, at that time, were astonishing. Give credit where credit is due - Rob Liefeld and Image ushered in a new age of comics and spawned numerous copy cats and a whole generation of fanboys. Thanks for an amazing video. Cheers.

Was there a cartoonist a generation above the image dudes that would have been the impetus for what we all call "jim lee" lines?...I'm not super versed in popular mainstream artists of the 60s and 70's outside of kirby/ditko/steranko..even the most manic line people like crumb or romita sr still seemed tighter and more traditional with hatching...dying to know what the 90s dudes all saw coming up that informed them
@CartoonistKayfabe2 жыл бұрын
Probably Barry Windsor Smith would be the closest guy to create those kinds of textures.

@@CartoonistKayfabe makes perfect sense! i could see BWS & heavy metal paving the way for a whole generation of that outlaw comic style line work coming to the forefront always a sucker for coverage on image stuff like everyone else who grew up in the 90s, thanks guys!
