Thanks for sharing that 70s punk nostalgia so graphically, I was able to imagine along as you described some of those old haunts… wild how under appreciated this channel is and others like it when you are carrying the torch after all these years in the way of your memories for these much more vibrant and inspired times in spaces of yesteryear and forgotten, mud flooded and paved, Americana. Some of these comments are shit talking this and I don’t know why anyone of substance least would ever find fault with your storytelling here…fuck I was enthralled, I long for the kind of freedom your reminiscing on actually witnessing- something I doubt future generations will ever know in the same magnitude. Sounds like an absolutely electric time to be living!

Between 1974 and 1980, the Residents were one of the most important and revolutionary bands on the planet. During that time they made about 7 essential albums. They also covered "Satisfaction" on a 45 that made Devo's version seem quite conservative in comparison. As for SVT, Jack Casady of the Jefferson Airplane was the bass player.

Love The Residents, I'm jealous of that Meet The Residents first pressing, it must be worth a fortune. But the greatest San Francisco band is certainly Deerhoof.

When I wanted to clear a house party I would play the Residents Duck Stab. Everyone would leave except for my music buddy who got the Residents. Cool stuff in an Ono way.

When Hot Tuna broke up in 79 Jack Casady somehow managed to find himself playing bass in 415's SVT. An odd matchup I thought at the time, the other members younger and melodically punkier than his former bandmates. Nevertheless that devil of a man played his ass off during their short-lived existence.

Sad. No Crime or Pink Section...I get the impression from Mazzy he wasn't "into" most of these bands...he was just geographically in the right place and the right age.

I saw Flipper in DC's 930 Club in the early 80s. Loud, abrasive, sloppy (possibly drunk, as I no doubt was). Great, great show. Crime was another fine SF band that I sadly did not see (DKs came around a lot....). Wasn't Minimal Man/Factrix SF based? Or Chrome - any way fun video - great time/city for music and culture.
