Visited Israel last October with my wife and loved every minute. Incredible landscape that can change drastically North to South. I very much wanted to do a short bike tour, but this is extreme. One would have to be very agile and experienced. On a solo hike in the North, i almost got lost on a mountain trail. Incredible video footage.

There are guide companies but you can shuttle on the buses in Tenerife up the volcano and ride back down to sea level from 2000 or so metres.

My favourite trails ever! Say hi to Tal and ask him to take you to the trail on Mt Karmel that ends down in Kibbutz Yagur (He will know. That is where he picked me up back in 2013). Yaal Kol is the Kibbutz handyman and will know which trail it is.

It is! We usually carry plugs and a tube - its also recommended to have a DH casing at least for the rear tire. Heavier, but lasts longer...

There's a season to ride in the desert and that's usually between December and April. This specific trail isn't long so if you're fast you can do it early in the morning all year round. But the area gets very hot and you need to make sure you don't get stuck outside in the summer months.
