Hey Everyone, Please hang in there with me. I have always wanted to share with people my views on Christianity & spirituality. My views are not about hating anyone. I also just wanted to address on my OWN CHANNEL, in my own words, why I don't want to engage in the petty fighting on KZbin. I have a take away and request at the end of this video about how I'd like to move forward, and I hope you can listen until the end. I will weather the negativity and if you unsubscribe over what someone else says about me, I don’t think you were really ever my subscriber to have. Please follow who you want & don’t get caught up in the drama. Thanks! Katie

I've also seen you grow as a person from your early years on social media. I believe that's why your channel has continued to grow a long with you. Hello Katie. Thank you for this. From where I stand, you are the best reporter on subjects of human abuse like my ex exposed me to. I was sold. I’m an ex addict. 5 years of my life was a blur and I find solace in all the things I did to feed my addiction in that I was baptized at age 31. But my relationship with my Higher Power (shoutout NA/AA) is very different, and I believe in a loving freeing God that does not shackle humans. I consider myself a *somewhat* conservative Christian. But YOU, Katie Joy, you show people like me respect even though some of our beliefs are opposite. You don’t disrespect. You don’t get big and loud. And although I’m one tiny member/liker/commenter, I will not stop watching you because you never came after my religion, you came after similar abuse I endured. Thank you. Thank you for sharing your story. This may resonate with you because I know there is so much discrimination against those that are Muslim. But I used to live in a neighborhood where there were a large number of Muslim immigrants. A family that immigrated from Egypt ran a convenience store that I went to all the time. They were the nicest people. While I was living there, 911 happened. Suddenly, the owner and his family faced so much discrimination and hate for what zealots and terrorists did. I remember going into the store a week or two after and he was so upset. He handed me this pamphlet and he said to me “Islam is love and it is not what those people did.” The pamphlet was something local immigrants put together to help educate the community about their beliefs, faith and their peaceful practices. I remember being so heartbroken that something like that had to be made. But I was so grateful that he took the time to educate me and help me see the humanity and not the headlines. All religions have good and bad people, it’s when they go to extremes it becomes a problem. ❤️

I do think that you have pointed out things that challenge my default beliefs and I know from the culture I came from a lot of people are going to feel very threatened by that and will lash out. I appreciate hearing alternative views and it has helped me question some of those beliefs and really decide for myself if I want to choose to continue to believe that. I think so much of the religious ideology we are raised with become such an ingrained part of our identity that when anyone proposes alternatives it feels threatening and most of us don’t have the emotional intelligence to deal with that in a healthy manner. I think a lot of what we should have learned about emotions and mental health are masked or ignored in favor of a sense of spiritual beliefs like faith and it’s not the same thing and doesn’t help people the same way.

No one can make everyone happy all the time. It is rather disturbing to see some channels simply focus on tearing other creators down. The best way to deal with those people is exactly what your doing... Ignore. They cannot distract or affect you if you don't pay any attention right? So keep on keeping on because the people that Want to be here to listen Will be, and they Are. One thing we've lost a lot of in this world is common sense. People enjoy watching a content creator constantly tearing someone down every single day, think about it, every single day they find something negative to say about you, or something another person did wrong... Every day? Come on. Get off the cross- job taken. The bottom line is, what someone's opinion is of me is none of my business. Who cares is right. You use your time to do this as your job, then so be it. There will always be people with a lot of time on their hands and they spend it tearing others down, but it's really disturbing especially when it's a woman tearing down another woman. So you can just take the lead Katie and keep doing what you want to do, keep caring about your watchers, keep ignoring the people you don't know, you can't be affected by what you don't care about. What matters is the people that ARE here, not everywhere else. Thanks for addressing it, just do you. Not everyone cares about other people's drama, we simply watch a video and move the hell on for the day. Moving forward girl!

I love your content -- thank you for also including us non-believers. I live in a small town with A LOT of churches -- mostly Christian fundamentalism. I'm constantly getting invited to "church" things. I'm chicken to come right out and say I'm a non-believer. I was also brought up Catholic -- many parents would say their kids couldn't play with me because I was Catholic. I went to a school run by Jesuits -- and felt I got good training. But, as an adult, I learned more about Catholicism -- such as the Pope supporting the Nazis. Anyway, today I refer to say I'm a "recovering" Catholic! My husbnand was brought up Southern Baptist and he has also learned a lot also in the 50+ years we've been together. I think my in-laws thought I corrupted him. Anyway, it scares me greatly that there are MANY in this country that want a Christian Theocracy -- let's hope it never happens!

As you know by now, I’m an Ex JW. And I’m also a Christ follower. For me, it’s all about Christ & Christ alone!! NOT a “religion.” One HUGE thing I’ve learned coming out of a cult is to be non judgmental & appreciate others opinions, beliefs & lifestyles. You have never offended me in the least BECAUSE I believe people should be able to voice their opinions & believe whatever makes them happy & content. If we truly believe, then our faith should stand up to any & all scrutiny. I’m not the least bit offended by atheists, in fact, some of my closest friends are atheists & so is my son. I knew when you went down this “cult” path, you would be viciously attacked. Cults DO NOT want us telling our stories. It’s their worst fear. It will get BRUTAL!! I’ve been attacked, threatened & bullied in the JW community so many times, I’ve lost track!! It only makes me stronger & more determined to get the job done. I appreciate people who get in the “cult trenches” & do their best to expose it!! Remember, people who speak truth aren’t always going to be popular.. just means you are doing the right thing .. And BTW.. I will unsubscribe to channels who bash each other. I have no time for such silliness.. our mission is too important for such distractions!! 👍🏼♥️👏🏼 I wish you well on this channel 😊

My husbands daughter is a JW and his son is an ex JW who is now a Presbyterian minister. I have seen lots of drama. How can someone respond to a JW if you want to make it clear you are not interested in becoming one? Or if you are brave enough to want to share the Gospel with them? I have not done a JW study but have studied the Bible and read it a few times on my own.

Katie, I love your channel. There is a lot of wrong in this world and it’s good that you are willing to dig deeper into that rabbit hole to uncover and bring light to a lot of those issues. Know who you are, know how far you willing to go, you may save some but you’re not going to save all of them. If it ever becomes to much of a burden, regroup and change with the flow. As difficult as it is to say, some people will always be a victim of something and then there’s some that will overcome and move forward in a positive direction. Some people thrive on negativity and enjoy it because some people’s mindset is wired all wrong and that’s nothing new. What you’re doing can be positive, as long as it’s positive healing for you and reflects positively in your family.

It needs to be brought out these women are forgotten women! Thank you Katie keep doing what you are doing! 🥰

I watch a lot of different YT creators videos on the Brown Family AND YOU are the only one that is not just spreading gossip, but actually reporting and making the “cults” and the “monsters” within them known, and helping bring awareness to it. You are being instrumental in bringing these people to the forefront and helping women and children to have their voices heard and maybe being instrumental in helping them escape their DV situations. You sure have helped open my eyes.

The underlying message of every major religion on the planet is "Love one another". I'm normally flabbergasted when says "I'm a (whatever religion)" in a proud/haughty/snotty voice while at the same time engaged in hateful rhetoric or actions. If your religion isn't teaching love, they're doing it wrong.

Katie, I had minimal knowledge about LDS, FLDS, AUB, etc. Thank you so much for really opening my eyes! I think it's important to have a place to get objective info and you have provided that. Sadly women are the majority of people abused in cults and we must work together to help them leave. Thank you again. ❤️ I also grew up Catholic which I no longer follow. I am not interested in joining any church. I respect someone's freedom of choice. I 17:27 consider myself a spiritual person. I believe in God and my guide in life is "the golden rule."

I understand what you are saying, Katie. I think you expressed it well. Maybe I don't search the internet enough but I never heard anything bad about you. Keep on doing what you do because I enjoy your investigative reporting. You remind me of Linda Ellerbee, maybe you are too young to remember her but she was a respected journalist (now retired). Recently I read an article in my local paper about satanic clubs in schools. I felt concerned. I think the young people may be misinformed or mislead and this is something to explore. I am concerned about the amount of sex trafficking that I was really unaware of how bad it is. So people like you do open our eyes. I appreciate the straight forward discussions without drama. You always have research which I appreciate. I worked with young people for many years and they need our protection and guidance. It's a tough world but it has it's beauty too. Rain has a special meaning for me and I was so happy to see your video tonight. Probably helped others too! Take care and love to read all the interesting comments from your followers.

Katie Joy, I was brought up in the mainstream Mormon church. As a result, I raised MY kids in that church. I feel like being in that church seriously negatively affected the first half of my life and my children’s lives. I should write a book, but I won’t go into details here. At the age of 61, I am finally happy where I am at in life. I do not attend ANY church and am completely happy with that. Keep doing what you do. It is helping people.

I’m a Christian. I love that our country allows freedom of religion. I’m a military brat. My dad fought in WWII-lied about his age, joined the Marines at 16 years, also was in Korea and Vietnam, a year each. He raised us to respect the freedoms we were blessed to have. He raised my sister and I to stand up for ourselves, be as independent as our brothers. My dad protected us from religion. He was primarily raised by his grand mother who practiced a Christian religion without a name. They held Sunday services in each other homes. The kids were lined up against the wall seated on the floor. If they dared made a sound someone would rap them on the head. Spoiling the rod was practiced in their homes. The Bible was read, there was no singing or music, and no Sunday school. Dad grew to hate it. He told us we could grow up to believe where we were lead but no one was warping our minds growing up. I never watch any opinions or shows about you Katie Joy. I have to say during the bad times, I saw a couple of people going at you and it took everything in me not to go back at them but I knew that’s not what you wanted. I never have watched another one. It doesn’t matter to me if you’re Atheist, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian…I know what I know about where you heart is. You have a good heart. That’s all I need to know. Love you lady.

I love your channel because your videos, particularly about religions and cults, are always well-researched, respectful of the members/former members, and educational without being judgmental. I have a BA in history and religious studies and love learning about others' beliefs and practices, even cults. Like you, Katie, I want to bring attention to it so people can be aware of these groups and their recruitment tactics. It's the same reason why I'm anti-MLM. I want people aware of the predatory nature of these groups.

Raised and devout catholic until seven years ago. My last confession then, at fifty years old. Telling priest of my horrific and abusive relationship with my mother and was close to a breakdown because of it. Told him my quadriplegic sister with MS in a nursing home was taking everything and had nothing thing left to give. He told me that I had an obligation to care for my parents. Not to was a mortal sin. Laughed and said that his mother was very nice and he couldn’t relate. My last confession and my last mass. That’s Irish imigrant NYC Catholic, which is its very own sect. Keep on speaking your truth - people who don’t know, don’t know. And won’t until they’re ready to know the truth

Also raised Catholic, Also have stories...and I rarely share them either. People jump to defend it and try to say it's an isolated situation. It's not. It's a big powerful wealthy group of men who shut down local schools in poor parishes because they don't generate income, who treat the women with a calling as less, who tell mothers to stay with fathers abusing their daughters...There are good and bad in every faith but in most cases the power structures are patriarchal and do not represent the better part of the membership.
