As someone who owns their own business and has to promote herself on IG and TT, I stepped away from social media the last quarter of 2024, and I have never felt better. Has my business taken a hit? I’m sure it has where I am not present on my social pages. But I truly couldn’t care less because I FEEL BETTER. And I relate to you when it comes to the graphs and stats that these websites throw in your face to show you how well you are doing (mine it compared to my previous year). I stopped looking at them so heavily because they truly take your motivation away if you see you aren’t doing as well this month compared to the same month last year. Business will fluctuate up and down depending on where the economy is at the point. So I’m not in control of what people can afford to buy or not. So I stopped looking at them as harshly. It’s all about balance. And it’s so healthy to take a step back and away from our screens. 💛

Without getting into specfics, in July 2023 I had a fanfiction account on Wattpad where I wrote some fanfic for some things, and for about six months, July 2023 - Febuary 2024, it was going amazing, I had an audience, and I loved it. I was always eager to do more. Then for some reason in March 2024 everyone got up and left, my numbers plummented, and I lost all motivation. So what you said about this kinda thing in your video is extremely true. I get the idea that people say YOU HAVE TO MAKE ART FOR YOURSELF but nobody who tries to make content and to see lower numbers after having them be high can understand how de-moralizing that is.

I personally noticed how much work you've been in. I was like "oh damn he's talking about this?" but not only that, you are giving as full a perspective as I'm sure you could and that by itself is a lot of work. When it comes to people talking about game dev it's too one sided. So I was like "oh yeah he thought about it, instead of just throwing shit up." That being said because I was constantly surprised I wouldn't feel like it's off if you changed things a bit or slowed down. It felt like you were constantly on it which I didn't expect it to be the case all the time. I guess you still have to keep up with the algorithm somehow because I only engage when your channel just pops up on my feed. So it does still sound like a challenge but for me I've felt pretty positive about you trying things. If you were worse off mentally I think it would show in your work but that isn't the case which is why I'll stay around because now as an adult I kinda want my youtubers to be mentally ok lol It depresses me watching other similar youtubers because they seem so done.
