No. Why do people act like Mordecai would've been a fucking Nobel peace prize winner if he went to college. He didn't make it very far on his own, he self sabotages and uses Rigby as an excuse for why he's at the park and believes he's better than him when in reality he's just a slightly better worker by comparison but as long as he believes he's "better" than Rigby his supposed best friend then he's fine. Honestly, I’d say this is in my top 10 favorite early episodes. Seeing Mordecai constantly stumble with Margarett and Rigby basically torching him at every turn is hilarious. Also, the whole thing with Father Time and him being (seemingly) nowhere with pretty much nothing is gold.

I hate how people always complain about Mordecai but never talk shit about Rigby, like how he always gets Mordecai in trouble or that time where he literally force him to take a shit on the floor
@hydrogendiamond58304 жыл бұрын
Firstly, I want to say that I love this assessment. It really dissected everything that I felt about the episode in such a clear, concise way and I appreciate that. Secondly, I wish you had talked a little about the fans and their reaction to the episode. Personally, I always hated that fans of Regular Show have a sort of hypocrisy towards Mordecai, and this episode is a good example of it. When Mordecai killed Rigby, fans always say that he's a horrible person, petty, and selfish (recently "simp" has also been thrown in there, but I digress). Yet conveniently, they always forget that Skips literally did the exact same thing to Rigby. In "Over the Top", Skips was basically how Mordecai is in this episode. Skips' pride was wounded by Rigby, he let his anger and rage get the better of him, and inadvertently killed Rigby. And just like Mordecai, Skips felt remorse for what he did and made up for it. And even years after these episodes were released, how do fans react to them? Silence towards Skips, but complete rage towards Mordecai. Also, I wished you hadn't seen Mordecai as an opportunist who would say anything to get out of that void he was in. He did seen to have remorse and guilt for what he did to Rigby, even saying that he deserved to be with Father Time for eternity. Lastly, and you might call me biased for this, but I wanted to say that despite his flaws, Mordecai is still my favorite character. Because I relate to him in so many ways. Being in your early 20s, having a lot of self doubt and lack of confidence with women, and struggling with how you need to be a mature adult are all so familiar. Even though the show is fiction, these characters remind you that these feelings and doubts happened to others, so you're not alone in having them. Call him a simp, but Mordecai is still a good person at heart. One that you might be inspired by if you look deeper than just his flaws.
@AzureDemonicGod4 жыл бұрын
Ya, alot of people call Mordecai a simp and I don't agree with that, I'm in my 20s and I still have trouble taking to girls I have crushes with, also, it's not simping to help a friend out (as it would be weird to tell strangers that you are moving and accept their help)
@AzureDemonicGod4 жыл бұрын
Also, the skips episode is one of the best points as Rigby in both episodes is a butt and pays a price in it, my problem is that Rigby didn't learn a lesson, in the skips episode, at least he learned not to cheat (or at least not in certain situations) but learned nothing from this episode because the only person who remembered was Mordecai
@N120154 жыл бұрын
@@AzureDemonicGod I would call him a Simp but he is not really that because he dated CJ on a point and was in a real love triangle. Mordecai is nervous person in general, clearly someone with serious problems to make friends and one who had his future ruined due to his best friend, as well as "the most normal" of the show. This episode make me dislike RIGBY instead, because he was just insufferable when being a selfish jerk.
@victoracosta47963 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I hated Skips in "Over the Top"; he gets beaten by Rigby and will not let it go even though Rigby almost forgot about the whole thing. Then, when he finds out Rigby cheated, he exposes Rigby (which should've been enough payback), and then forces him to arm wrestle, knowing that he could (and has) DESTROYED Rigby in the past, and ends up killing him.

This episode frustrated me before because it seemed like Rigby was giving Mordecai such a hard time about having to work up the nerve to ask out Margaret, instead of giving him the space and encouragement he needed to do it in his own way. However, you also provided the perspective that Rigby was trying to give him chances to be confident and stand up for himself, but he never did. Even going as far as asking Margaret out, and while that's still shitty and the way he acted was really immature, that could also have been a chance for Mordecai to be like "Ok you know what, that's enough Rigby. Margaret, I've been trying to work up the nerve this whole time to ask you to see this movie with me" and she probably would've admired his candidness about the issue. Rigby might not be the brightest or most self aware character, but I feel like he would know Mordecai well enough to know when he was crossing a line, it was as if he knew he was going too far and wanted to piss him off. At the same time, it was frustrating seeing Mordecai having so much trouble asking her out and could never just spit it out. Like Rigby said, he has a hard time trying to "espresso himself". He can't get over his insecurity or his fear of rejection which is why he's so hesitant in the first place. I could probably write a whole damn essay about this episode, since this one in particular hit a lot of nerves with me for both characters

@JasonDevil063 жыл бұрын
Everyone keeps calling Mordecai a "simp" god I hate that word for killing Rigby and just in general. He didn't even mean to he just pushed him out of anger because Rigby LITERALLY DID THE SAME THING. Also we're not talking about some girl he just "likes" he thought this girl was going to be the one. And Rigby was going out with her completely out of spite. Rigby apparently didn't care about romance back then at all and that just *makes* Mordecai look like a "simp" by comparison even though he's not. You notice that Rigby was ALWAYS jealous when it comes to hanging out with Mordecai.

I think the beauty about Regular Show is that it the show truly is about regular people, who interact and display reactions the same way we or other people we know would in real life. Mordecai and Rigby's friendship isn't perfect, but who do you know in real life has a perfect friendship? If there was a camera following your day to day activities with your friends, family,co-workers, etc, would it not look similar to what we see in Regular show? Even the crazy supernatural stuff that happens is just a parody of how life can just get crazy and out of control.

im sure a few people have mentioned it already but rigby DID push mordecai first. and don't come in here sayin "oh, but rigby is physically weaker" or "but rigby didnt want to kill mordecai". firstly, rigby's push knocked one of mordecai's hands off of the microwave (granted, neither of them knew getting knocked off the microwave meant death, but the fact of the matter is that rigby nearly killed mordecai himself) and secondly, mordecai never intended on killing rigby either, as shown by his I M M E D I A T E remorse once rigby dies. he even goes back in time to make sure he doesn't kill him, people act as if people dont say things in the heat of the moment
