I am guilty of doing that and let people bring it up and use it against me. It hard to move on when people keep bringing bs from the past and mistakes. People disrespect my physical and mental health issues an discrimination I get over those explaining why I feel worthless and hate and distrust others. I swear this is giving me anger issues. Yeah but at what point after this person did you wrong is it okay to finally let it go? 1 hour? 1 day? 1 month? 1 year? We are allowed to feel the pain that comes with betrayal or anything else someone does to hurt us. But how long are we allowed to feel this pain for? And depending on the degree on which this person hurt you, (especially in extreme cases like abuse, assault, etc), does it become okay to feel these thoughts. Especially when that hurt has caused you extreme mental battles like depression, anxiety, ptsd, trauma, etc? How can you just throw all hate in your heart out for a person that has caused you a lifetime of suffering? Especially depending on the importance of the role this person played in your life.

Let go of friends. People are extremely emotional. Had a friend who had a toxic girlfriend. Ever since she left, he became enraged and started becoming toxic himself. He threw all that toxicity on me and then abandoned me and would in 2 week intervals, call me for things that he needed whether it be money or a place to sleep or food. I stopped talking to him completely. Turned out he had a new group of friends, dude's spending too much time looking for a replacement girlfriend. I was emotional and depressed and he would come over and tell me stories about how he met this girl who he thinks is the one. Every few weeks there's a new girl. He never asked me how I was, just where I was. I stopped talking to him and it made him more bitter. Called me stupid, fat, and a bad friend. I gave up on him and just let go. Started finding self happiness. Positive? I'm happier. Negative? I'm home a lot. I feel like a homebody.

There is a lot of "old soul" wisdom to be gained from your videos. I really struggle with letting go of negative experiences or something a toxic person did or said to me, even if it was years ago. Watching several of your videos has been as helpful as a few sessions of good therapy- and for free too. Depending on the damage done. One IS obligated to take responsibility for their mistake. To own up to it and realize the hurt they've caused. After that, I think we are allowed to heal and forgive ourselves. But we can't just do SOMEONE bad one day and move on the very next day. Self forgiveness doesn't happen overnight and it takes time. It also varies depending on how bad we were or what we did.

Like you said, people are constantly changing their mind. So even though he doesnt love me any more, it doesnt mean that the fact will last forever. He might change his mind and come back to me some day in the future. I have been thinking in this way all the time, that's why I always be not able to let him go. But instead i always keep the hope that he will come back some day. I know this kind of thought helps nothing for me but put me into more unhealthy life to wait for him. But the uncertain hope is technically true :(

Similar situation here, what I've learned is that our brains are moldable like plastic, we've condition our brain to repeat an action whether it's a good or a bad one, when you're trying to move on from the past your brain is bound to repeat the action you fed it for a long time In order to break this cycle you have to replace bad habits / thoughts with positive ones and reject the negativity, it may take time but your brain will adapt to it for a betterment of your life

It’s so cool how poetry can have multiple meanings. A year ago, this poem referred to my girlfriend breaking up with me, I interpreted it more literally. Now, when I hear every line, all I think about is my opioid addiction and the things that come with it, the line that really got me was “Temptations masquerade themselves as feelings”, felt my heart ache for a second or two. Please never stop uploading

A lot of these 'self-help' videos can come across to me as conceited in delivery, or just not hit home for me effectively. You seem very wise for your age, thank you for sharing your knowledge of the world friend .

It took me years just to get over my initial friends in college betrayal. Whenever I see them happy on social media, I still feel a slight pain. Also I got an Ad from my college when I watched your video ahahaha.

Wow! And I mean really wow. Your statement that you need to change the type of person you were when you were hurt by them, that is truly important and I think it will make it so that I can forgive the person who hurt me. Also, your statement that they may have changed their attitude about me, that makes wonderful sense and it makes it very easy for me to let go of this problem for now. I think that it will make it so I can let go for good. I’ve tried the journaling lesson on the two biggest problems I have, and I really feel good; I’ll see if it stays that way. Cole, all of your videos so far have been wonderful! I am really impressed.

I heard that maturity is letting things go; the ability to make sacrifices. Do I believe it? Yes, I do.

i have watched this video along with other similar to this of yours , it helped to not feel alone , i started going to poetry nights once a month and this video was part om my inspiration for this poem, Thx Cole The Chains of Memory I clung to the memories we shared, As though they were a lifeboat in a storm, I tried to keep them from slipping away, Forgetting that love must be reborn. But the more I held onto the past, The more I lost myself in its chains, My heart grew heavy with the weight of memory, And my soul felt trapped in its refrains. I longed for the person I used to be, The one who saw the world with hope, But the memories of you held me down, And made it hard to find the strength to cope. I loved you once, with all my heart, And perhaps a part of me always will, But I can't hold onto a love that's gone, And I can't pretend that time stood still. It's time to let go of the chains of memory, And to find the courage to move on, To embrace the present with open arms, And to greet each new day with a fresh dawn. I'll always cherish the moments we shared, And the love that once bloomed between us, But I won't let it hold me back any longer, For my heart deserves to be free and joyous. So I'll bid farewell to what once was, And turn my eyes to the horizon, For there are new memories waiting to be made, And a life to be lived with passion.

Thank you so much I totally understand as a 31 year old I have/had forgiven or yet to do so because well the experiences will stick to you forever. I had a rough past (childhood) family & friendships that didn’t last. My stepdad molested me when I was 13 and it is so hard to forgive someone who actually who thought you can trust but end up being false in your eyes. I am going to therapy it helps a little but I still live in a toxic environment which made me go to a toxic work place. I understand forgiveness but it has been so hard

Thank you Cole. You bring us a better understanding on how we all work, more precisely than friends telling us we should do this or that, even though these friends are precious people in this very world. Much love and respect 🙏
