8 minutes 40 seconds in, im gonna have to disagree here. Cole has a POWERFUL pen and THAT should have been his focus. Hes been saying, even before first person shooter that he wants respect put on his name as the person put in middle to last place when it comes to attention and recognition in HipHop and when ALL of it got put to the test in "Like that", he was the first to respond & the first to leave. It was too soon and too many flaws in 7 minute drill, & in addition he wasnt aware of the bigger picture that had been in play between Drake and Kendrick. Competition was ALWAYS present between Kendrick and Cole. But Beef was never the factor. Thats why Cole redacted his response because even he knew that wasnt him; thats not how J. Cole fires his shots. If J. Cole is gonna step into the battlefield with Kendrick it wont be bashing and slander but it will be Pen vs Pen, Art vs Art, who can make the Best pictures with their lyrics, same way Kendrick has been doing it on the track with Sean, Em, TechN9ne, Pusha T and other artists where he had to prove he wasn't just another rapper pulling a feature for a check. THIS is where Cole has his chance at proving he is the absolute King of his craft, not in the zone and grave that Drake built for himself.

However, you are wrong in one thing-in order to truly move on, you have to truly FORGIVE him for whatever egregious action you felt he took. The issue is, people would be negative either way. If he stood on business nobody would say "Oh well at least he fought back" because his disses wouldn't land, and he'd get dunked on for that too. People already called 7 minute drill weak, and now they pretend like they respect him more if he dropped more disses like that and got bodied by Kendrick, Meet The Grahams would probably have 2 more minutes had Cole not been out and that diss already destroyed Drake, what do you think it would do to Coles discography? Not Cole himself, as I doubt theres dirt on him, but his discography when people already call him "boring" No matter how you look at it people made up their minds even before the beef, Drake and Cole were never gonna win to begin with, especially Cole..
@Open-MindedSkepticАй бұрын
I already knew the 7 Minute Drill song wasn't in his heart because it lacked the lyrical attack we all J Cole is known for. I never lost any respect for Cole. He still in my top 5.

it astounds me how much cognitive dissonance the culture had to expect cole to cut off kendricks head and simultaneously clown him as if he was never capable. at the end of the day, it was just like cole said in his apology "people wanna see blood" and so many were gaslighting as if thats not exactly what they were looking for. cole bowing out was immediately seen as the first big L the beef handed out that could be memed and ridiculed and stain a legacy. fans were starving for blood and convinced themselves cole was bleeding out from his decision so they could be satisifed. then kendrick gave everybody what we really wanted and it was lit. but cole never lied tho 🤷🏾♂️

@@RST94 Cole outrapping them had NOTHING to do with Kendrick dominating Drake. Cole has been dropping verse after verse of pure heat ever since that grippy bs. Kendrick ain’t been dropping shit besides “watch the party die” which came and went. And I’m not even gonna bring up the trash Drake dropped. @@YesserSirMrSir Ah yes on two songs 😂 This ADHD generation is crazy. All I know is, when Black Friday comes on, no one thinks of Cole’s verse 😌 Having some good features for a few years, a mid catalog of music, and backing down from a battle while talking tough on said features doesn’t anoint him as the guy. Sorry 🤷🏾♂️ Watch the party die kills anything Cole has done this past month.

You cant compare his openings rounds to escalation. Out of Euphoria,Push up and 7 min he had the weakest entry, done. Now why he pulled out in my opinion is that he didn't want any parts of said escalation and honestly neither did kendrick which is why he warned drake multiple times that if he took it there he was ready. Unfortunately that move on coles part drops him a few pegs cause how you conduct urself in battle stays on ur rap resume, and he showed he's passive in that arena.
