Timely vid - much appreciated. I agree with your points on not canonizing someone's way of doing things due to the group they belong to. Everyone loves to "know a guy who was..." or "my cousin served with a guy who talked to a SEAL once and he said...." - end of the day, the go fast guys make mistakes just like everyone else. They end up casualties too and it's not like they're always peer to peer. The redeeming quality of being human and humble is the drive to get better, regardless of current state or status.

Thank you. This video reminds me of a paint job on a car. A guy I know decided to get his car redone. After all the mechanical was done (and running good I might say) he took it to an auto-body shop. When the shop was done the paint job didn’t look good (orange peeling, fish eyes, runs etc) but the guy wants his money. My friend refused to pay because the car looked like crap. The shop said he wasn’t a professional auto-body painter so his opinion didn’t matter. His reply, “ I’m not a barber either but I know when mine does a good job.”

Recent subscriber... I know a physician, really gifted in his skill. Also saw him try to weld a chassis. He was not a good welder, he knew a lot, he was an excellent doctor, but a poor welder. Also, I was a political scientist, and we always disagree over nuances and interpretation, humans are complex, but reasoned debate makes us stronger, challenges positions, so we learn and get better. Here's what I think. The fed, the states, the municipalities, the consumers and the businesses are hopelessly in debt. The society has mostly forgotten the meaning of hard work, self respect, respect for others. We've had four generations raised on government giveaways. Many don't know where food comes from, how anything is made, the concept of compound interest, or even How to Cook. Our infrastructure is so fragile that a couple nut jobs from half way around the world or a cold snap or heat spell can shut things off. Our truckers are newbs. Our rails are old. We rely on complex technologies that most can't comprehend to supply our most basic needs, food, warmth, shelter, clothing. And our more advanced needs, communication, banking, transportation are even more complex. People in some places [people take pride in assaulting strangers, while others have bombs in their home. Our land and water has been treated as a dumping ground for six generations, with minor improvements since the 70's. The government isn't that stable and leaders have threatened to disrupt our economy, free press, personal rights, reset environmental laws. Strikes, shortages, diseases, conspiracies, riots, foreign wars, bad weather and other natural disasters keep happening and compounding each other. AND NOW YOU TELL ME IT IS WORSE THAN i THINK? Nope, it ain't worse than I think. We are on the brink. Maybe a generation or two, maybe a couple years or weeks. But this country or a good chunk of it is going over a cliff. My advice, become more self sufficient and become a leader of this in your community. Teach neighbors, friends and co-workers basic skills and the reason shy they should have these skills. I'm not talking about bushcraft, I'm talking about the skills needed to keep a village alive. Cooking, baking, growing and preserving food, sewing, smithing, construction, repair skills, milling grain, digging and bracing holes, making things by hand or with complex tools. It needs to be taught. They used to teach that stuff at home, then at high school, home ec, shop and ag classes. There are not a lot of those classes taught anymore. Look at Cuba, how do they keep those 70 year old cars running? Look at some of those poor African countries that can barely feed themselves and still have time for war. Look at what happened to Yugoslavia, especially the siege of Sarajevo. Any of those could be typical in the US within your lifetime. I ain't high speed, low drag. I walk my dog with a pack 3 miles a day. I work in the garden with my wife, we grow enough to supply our vegetables fresh, frozen, canned, dehydrated, pickled and fermented for over a year. I've done some bricklaying, we both cook, she crochets and sews, I reload and sharpen tools, we have many other skills for the village. And ya know what? All those skills save us money, add to our health, our outlook, have given us new friends. Our prepping has given us a pretty good lifestyle.

On point in 'fact checking' before we get all 'red ass monkey' faced! Staying with this subject matter I ask for a little indulgence. Too many of us 'avoid' basic understanding of the country's economic structure so we tend to rely on 'sources' that lean one way or another for our information. This could be a crucial error if we don't start doing 'our own' homework and soon! If we continue to allow the federal government to 'lead' us - we're in for a long walk off a short pier. I urge every American to try to understand at some level the dire straits America's economic outlook really is. There's lots of 'expert' opinions out there - just try to understand the numbers. We're about to go broke folks and you need to understand what that looks like and how it will affect you and your family. Look at what an economic crisis has done to other countries - plenty of examples - none pretty. In fact - other than the 'Great Depression' - America is one of only a handful of countries that hasn't experienced a complete economic shutdown and some say we're overdue. You'll need to be prepared for something the fed-gov will not be able to fix or even assist with. It will be up to us to survive and assist others if we can. Get ready!

Just two examples are the issues around the spec ops community and the non-prepping preppers. So we have confirmed that the majority of the prepper, survival, and firearms online community are looking for entertainment or idols not to do the real work of survival.
