It struck me between the eyes: WE ARE MORTAL

I nearly lost my life (it's still so surreal), and I still didn't grasp the concept, MORTALITY! I survived, so somewhere deep down inside it makes me IMMORTAL! I'm so wrong. Reality struck hard when I realized that Milan might not wake up from surgery. I believe it's because it's a soul I love. If it was me undergoing surgery it would be a different story.
Having to face something small like one of our pets Milan (who's basically our children) going to the vet for a small operation to remove his nail today, I face the reality that anything can go wrong and he might not wake up from being under anesthesia on the operating table. Having this reality in my face I realize that Every day is a blessing.
It's bizarre that I have to be in a situation of a pet that might not wake up after surgery to remind me of mortality. How about the reality of us as human beings being blessed second after second. Do you have these thought patterns every evening thinking that you, your spouse, one of your pets, one of you family members or friends might not wake up in the morning? Is it necessary that Milan has to undergo surgery for his toe-nail to be removed before I think about mortality?
Say thank you, be grateful. We are not aware of our mortality.
Deep down inside somewhere we think we are immortal and this is going to go on forever.
RIGHT NOW is the most important part of your life because the past is gone and the future is unknown.
