On our 2nd installment of "Opening Number Tuesdays" I’ve chosen from the Spring of 1965 “Pass Me By”. Intricate yet simple at the same time, director Marc Breaux cleverly stages this construction of a gazebo that could be straight out of The Music Man or Main St. USA at Disneyland. With so many moving parts it’s amazing we got the thing “built” in time to end the number! The “It Takes A Village” metaphor that is best seen now 50 years on, is made all the more poignant by seeing all those who are no longer with us come together for family roll call.
On another note, as a Pronunciation Nazi... notice in the commercial the announcer pronounces the work "preventive" which is correct! IT IS NOT PREVENTATIVE! Anymore than library is LIBARY or nuclear is NUCULAR!! (You bet your ass they'll be a pop quiz. Class dismissed!)
