My wife and I played and LOVED this game. She doesn’t really play games but really liked this and found it super charming. I found the variety truly impressive. Hazelight really released their inner child-like creativity. We also deliberately took a long time to play it so it would last longer. Very happy it won GOTY.

Yeah I feel like sometimes people believe that the longer the duration of the video the better quality it has. Like “oh look it’s a 7 HoUrS lOnG cRiTic of ___ game, he must be an expert in this game” and it doesn’t really matter if 90% of the video is useless data, number of facts or fillers which don’t give you any actually valuable material to think about yourself and make your own decisions about the game.. It seems like those numbers in the left bottom corner of the video help to create an illusion of “depth” and “profoundness”. Just saying

It takes two is what happens when narrative themes, gameplay, and developers laser focus coalesce. Hell, even the monetization with the friend pass works to its advantage. Fares' laser focus and relentless Vision of having this game be co-op with someone the player knows makes the experience very personal versus going online with a rando

A Way Out made me pay a lot of attention to this studio and It Takes Two solidified that and made them one of my favorites in the industry right now, I really can’t wait to see what they make next.

A Way Out was so fun and me and my buddy really enjoyed the rollercoaster it took the two leads on and the tricks it played with its co-op gameplay to keep up both invested. Hadnt laughed that much or felt that much when playing a game with another person in a long time and the minigames were fun 😂 So when he told me about It Takes Two and we dived into that game its crazy how they refined their already great co-op type gameplay from A Way Out and just threw it into one of the best looking and creatively designed 3D platformers we've ever experienced. Im glad Hazelight made this game and hope they continue creating new inspiring stories/games.

I really love this game, it's a true masterpiece. Rarely have I seen a game so full of creativity and also depth. This game is a love letter to gaming itself. Not only strictly video games but all games and how they are about playfulness, joy and overcoming challenges. It also works so great on a meta level because here we have two grown-ups, who forgot how to play and are caught up in their daily life issues, but are in a way brought back to childhood and re-experience this joy all over again.

Me and my fiance finished the game just a few hours ago and I can honestly say it's one of my favourite games in recent memory and highly deserves the GOTY award it got. Its got fun and unique gameplay in an industry filled with the same old stuff rehashed every year. The story is a sweet one, the gameplay doesn't take itself seriously or try to do too much to impress you. I genuinely felt like I was reconnecting with my faince playing this, seeing Cody and may reconnecting reminded me of why I love my partner so much as well as remind me of how fun gaming was growing up with the bygone era of split screen co-op. There's not a single bad thing I can say about this game, it's fun, has heart, is unique and is very memorable

this is NOT an EA game, its a Hazelight game later published by EA ORIGINALS, basically a neat project to help smaller 'indie' games stop praising EA and start praising Hazelight! the mantra of EA Originals is that 'indie' studions dont have to compromise in any way and the only money EA gets is to recuperate the initial investment (ie, no profit)

I loved this game. My only criticism is that the co-op mechanics in the later game aren't as impressive as the ones in the early game. Where at first you had intricate level design where the two players are far apart but combine their powers in unique ways to advance, the last few levels mostly had road blocks you could only progress through if both players used their power, without those powers actually interacting. Still loved it, but I wish it had finished as strongly as it started.

I really enjoyed the game, with a friend. However we ended up really tired of the repetitiveness of its story and narrative. It has great moments too tho, but the narrative and playable cycle just... becomes repetitive. The scenary, tho, was so good and changed so often that it kept us pushing til the end. Oh, and Dr Hakim, we had a lot of fun with him XD Regarding the goty tho, I don't think it deserved it. I think the Medium, Nier Replicant and Deathloop were much better

I think the developers were running out of ideas in the end tbh, in the final level the set of abilities make it so just one of the two players is really interacting with the level. Still my GOTY and I'm so glad it won in the game awards, I definitely will keep an eye on Hazelight games.

That's so funny I'm reading so many comments like this and it shows me that my friend and I were certainly in the minority. We really liked the game but felt it was too long some of the levels got on our nerves. We felt it could have cut some levels and tightened the game up a bit.

One major flaw for me. The story drags on and on. Absolutely amazing game, but I was literally unable to finish it because me and the guy I was playing it with simply didn’t have the time to play it anymore. We assumed it wasn’t gonna be that long of a game, but boy oh boy were we wrong. 15 hours on average to beat the game. And that’s also if you’re progressing through it at a pretty consistent rate. There was definitely quite a few times where a tough puzzle roadblocked us for 15 to 20 minutes. So honestly if we ever did end up finishing it, it likely would’ve taken us between 20 to 25 hours. Also yes I know it’s weird to complain about a games length, but every other game made by Hazelight studios before It Takes Two was absolutely amazing, but they also didn’t overstay their welcome. You can beat most of their games in one sitting. I was hoping that’d be the same for It Takes Two but it simply wasn’t. I didn’t want to get tired of it, but honestly it was taking us so long to beat, plus the real life factor of our work schedule, that ultimately I agreed with my friend that we simply didn’t have time to beat it. Great game overall, but man the length of it holds it back from being a masterpiece in my opinion. Like personally, I think the game would’ve been even better if it didn’t feel like the devs were padding on more and more levels just to extend the runtime.
