After the homicide of 1923, Cranstall took on the 87546 number & so did the dead engine’s work. Unlike his predecessor, Cranny was very reserved & considerably competent. Following the Great Depression’s hit in 1929, Topham - like many a businessman - had to make reluctant, but necessary choices. Cranny, like every engine on the island, was well aware & offered to be scrapped in order to make some sort of profit.

That was 87546. The video takes place in 1924, shortly after the homicide in December the previous year (see ‘Arrogance’ to better understand). 87546 was scrapped the day after his crash, with the tender being the last thing on the list. What’s seen there is a discussion on whether to keep the tender as a spare, or scrap it with its original locomotive.
